Did it ever come back? Was there anything you did that helped?

I lost my sense of smell the first week of lockdown and other than very sporadically it's gone.

I lost mine before Covid officially started and as far as I am aware I have never had Covid.

I questioned whether it was Sinus related.

Then 12 months ago I started taking methylated B12. Instagram recommended it for Neuropathy, which I have had for the same length of time. As I have been advised Neuropathy is untreatable, I decided I had nothing to lose by trying the B12.

Amazingly I realised after a few weeks that I could smell things again and now I also have some sense of taste. Neither are perfect, but those senses are there.

What frustrated me the most is that when I told my Consultant (Neuropathy) what I was taking and the effects it was having, he said ‘yes I have heard that can help’ 😱😱

It's awful isn't it? I'm sorry so many of us are suffering with it, it's pretty miserable. 💐

I remember seeing something on youtube about oranges cut in half with brown sugar on baked in the oven, apparently people were getting their sense of taste or smell back through eating them but I haven't tried it and have no idea if it actually works. I might give it a try, I have nothing to lose after all.

I was just gas-lit by my GP so never bothered asking about it again.

I lost my taste and smell its was quite early on in the covid breakout. I did the orange trick, cooked it over my fire place until it was black but it didnt work. It took about 18 months to get my taste and smell back, it was utterly miserable eating food and I couldnt even eat some textures of food without taste.

Mine came back after about six to eight weeks.

A friend of mine still doesn’t have hers back from her first infection. A woman at playgroup said her son’s tastes had changed very quickly after her and her husband had tested positive, but she put it down to them staying in for a few days as she thought children didn’t get symptoms. He went from eating a variety of foods to disliking a lot. Young kids can do that I suppose, but I also wonder how many children just can’t articulate the change or loss in taste.
