Has anyone had a fungal infection of their scalp? I’m miserable!

I have a fungal infection of my scalp. Symptoms are just like dandruff - but it’s really severe and so itchy.
I also have been diagnosed with a fungal infection of the skin on my shoulders, for which I’ve been prescribed Canesten thrush cream. I’ve been using it but my skin is really burning where I apply it and it’s really irritated and scaly.
I’ve been using Ketaconaze shampoo ( also prescribed by doctor). The treatment in both areas has been going in for a week now and it’s no better.
Can anyone help please? It’s driving me mad and looks horrible.

Have you actually been tested / samples taken and sent via your GP to the hospital lab? There are different types of Yeast & Fungi and each may require different treatments.

Thank you for answering Herbetta- no. The GP didn’t suggest that. Maybe I will ring tomorrow and ask about that. I’d expected some relief by now.

Your gp likely needs to Rx an oral medication as well. Go back.
Wash everything in hot water and dry on hot if possible.
If you have pets, get them checked as they can carry it as well. Keep them off beds and furniture.

I have the same and it's been about 3 weeks of treatment and I'm starting to notice an improvement. The intensity of the itchiness has subsided and there's less dandruff
