Can anyone identify my lost cat pendant necklace - gift from my child from a charity shop?

I am hoping Mumsnet can work its magic in finding this exact model of necklace I have lost, which was a present from my son. He bought it for me in a charity shop in NE England and to make matters worse, he has sweetly said he plans to write to the tooth fairy asking her to “find” it for me instead of her giving him money for his next tooth! Aside from that being a bit heartbreaking, I fear his belief in the tooth fairy may be under threat if she doesn’t deliver!

• Approximately 2cm wide
• Dark silver/pewter-coloured metal; the coating was coming off a bit and it was more of a copper colour
• Openwork design: only the outline of a cat's head, not a solid face. Textured outline a bit like thin rope
• upright, pointed ears
• Two large, wide almond-shaped enamel eyes
• Eyes were a very bright lime/chartreuse green with black slit pupils
• Small metal triangular nose inside
• Pendant hung from a loop at the top centre
• the chin was rounded, not pointy
• Back was plain with no maker's mark that I can remember
• It may be vintage – I thought perhaps early noughties, but no idea really.

I only have a partial photo which I’m attaching. The overall look was minimalist and slightly gothic-inspired.

Does anyone recognize the maker, brand, or exact pendant? Hoping for a miracle against the odds!! I’ve scoured Etsy and eBay and Vinted, and tried reverse image search and AI search, as well as posting on a Reddit site for finding items (not much response).

Thank you so much.

Your son is a total sweetheart - and MN is magic!

This thread has been lovely to read.

I’ve bought it! It’s going to my relative in America who kindly offered to send it on!

That's brilliant OP! I got quite invested reading about your dilemma. 😄

Great outcome, long live Mumsnet powers and @BloodandGlitter 🎉

Oh I do love a happy ending. The powers of Mumsnet ❤️

This made me so happy 😊

Hurrah!

I feel I must comment on @BloodandGlitter 's detective work. I am quite proud of my reputation for being able to track things down online, but even with the complete ebay image I wasn't able to get anywhere. I am in awe! How did you do it?!!

Yes! I too am in awe. I really thought I’d trawled pretty extensively!

Thank you to all the wonderful tooth fairies here, spanning continents no less - Mumsnet at its best! I’ll certainly update once I get it. It might take a while, but luckily there are no teeth imminently likely to fall out at the moment! The tooth fairy will certainly be giving my darling son his money too though.

Brilliant! I am English in the US and was about to offer to help otherwise! 💕

Gosh how kind, thank you for thinking of offering that.

Jokes on you @CatFairyi actually WANTED to cry over a random post on the internet about a lady a cat pendant and a very sweet little boy!! 😭

so glad youve sorted it. Can’t wait for a pic update

TreesAtSea · 05/06/2026 11:18

You could even tell your son that, not only did the tooth fairy find it, but she gave it a polish before returning it, since the eBay one looks like it might be a little "brighter".
Love a happy ending😊

Purplecatshopaholic · 05/06/2026 11:23

Aww, I love it when MN does something awesome like this. Do show us it when you receive it op. I am sure your son will be delighted that the ‘tooth fairy’ came through too.

StephensLass1977 · 05/06/2026 11:26

What an amazing thread. I've been totally invested since this morning. Hope it arrives soon 🐱@CatFairy

blackbirdsaresinging · 05/06/2026 11:27

If when the necklace arrives, you think it is slightly different and your son would know, can I suggest the tooth fairy leaves it under his pillow with a note that she couldn't find the original one, but found this one for him to give you instead. (Obviously being kind, the tooth fairy will leave him some money too.)

Thank you, and thanks too to @TreesAtSea for the suggestion. It does look shinier from the photo, you’re right. I’ll wait and see.

I think though that he won’t clock the difference consciously, because part of why he was upset (until he delightedly told me he’d found an infallible solution in asking his tooth fairy) is he said it was from a charity shop, and was absolutely the only one ever and he could never find another. He had specifically been pleased to choose something that there was only one of.

I don’t want to count my chickens, but when it arrives, I’ll certainly send a photo and update you all. The tooth fairy will be giving him his money and a letter about how kind and special he is, too.

Wow! When I read the OP I thought sadly there’s no way someone is going to be able to find something so unique. What a great turn of events!

MumsNet at it's best. Our Best !

indeed it is such a lovely thread, could it go into Classics one day ?

vanessashanessa99 · 05/06/2026 12:28

Would the eBay seller be willing to fo a private sale? Bank transfer kind of thing. They seem very nice so worth a try.
Aren't people great on MN at finding things 🫶🏻

Agreed.
Lovey thread. Heartwarming story with amazing MN sleuthing plus international cooperation from both seller and OP's family member in the US.

OP has been able to order it to a relative in the US who will send it onto her.

Fingers crossed the tooth fairy will watch over the deliveries and make sure the pendant arrives safely!

Please do update us, OP!

You don't work in theatres, do you?
Might it have fallen into a patient's abdominal/ chest cavity?

Haha. Just to put anyone’s mind at rest, you can’t wear jewellery in theatre. (Possibly for this very reason, horror.)

I have to say that anyone who found jewellery in their chest cavity would have a very strong 'finders keepers' case 😆

diddl · 05/06/2026 14:35

If it's the same but newer looking perhaps the tooth fairy might have given it a clean & polish?
