Can anyone identify my lost cat pendant necklace - gift from my child from a charity shop?

I am hoping Mumsnet can work its magic in finding this exact model of necklace I have lost, which was a present from my son. He bought it for me in a charity shop in NE England and to make matters worse, he has sweetly said he plans to write to the tooth fairy asking her to “find” it for me instead of her giving him money for his next tooth! Aside from that being a bit heartbreaking, I fear his belief in the tooth fairy may be under threat if she doesn’t deliver!

• Approximately 2cm wide
• Dark silver/pewter-coloured metal; the coating was coming off a bit and it was more of a copper colour
• Openwork design: only the outline of a cat's head, not a solid face. Textured outline a bit like thin rope
• upright, pointed ears
• Two large, wide almond-shaped enamel eyes
• Eyes were a very bright lime/chartreuse green with black slit pupils
• Small metal triangular nose inside
• Pendant hung from a loop at the top centre
• the chin was rounded, not pointy
• Back was plain with no maker's mark that I can remember
• It may be vintage – I thought perhaps early noughties, but no idea really.

I only have a partial photo which I’m attaching. The overall look was minimalist and slightly gothic-inspired.

Does anyone recognize the maker, brand, or exact pendant? Hoping for a miracle against the odds!! I’ve scoured Etsy and eBay and Vinted, and tried reverse image search and AI search, as well as posting on a Reddit site for finding items (not much response).

Thank you so much.

Like @JaneJeffer, I also found this post inappropriately hilarious!!! Poor cat necklace!!

I can just imagine it rising to the surface, green eyes staring out through the patient's skin.

JaneJeffer · 04/06/2026 22:02

@CatFairy There’s a woman who buys and restores/reuses jewellery for resale. She might have come across one of these.

That’s so kind, Jane. I’m hoping I have found on eBay in America thanks to a sleuth on this thread, but if anything goes wrong there I can try your lead!

Ok, it’s quite the saga.

The necklace was bought in the UK; seller now lives in the US though.

The reason ebay international shipping won’t let it be posted to me is, and I quote the seller, they’ve deemed it too dangerous a beast!

Maybe these cat necklaces really do burrow themselves into human abdomens!

On a more serious note, I hope we can get it sorted out - seller is being great. So close and yet so far!

Is there an address forwarding service you could use? I don't know about in the UK but in Ireland we have 'addresspal' with the post office, where they give you a US address and then forward it to your own home address for you.

Thank you! I’m looking into exactly this.

(meanwhile, panic not if anyone clicks the link and sees item no longer available; it’s because the seller is looking into it. I haven’t been catzumped!)

Can the seller close off the listing on eBay and sell it directly to you. All you need do is pay her via PayPal before she posts it.

Sorry I just saw this message too. I think it may have been in the pocket of my scrubs at work/ended up coming undone in my scrubs when I got changed, as the clasp wasn’t great…either way, since lost in the bowels of the hospital laundry department. Not hopeless, but near enough.

Thank you all SO much

Edited

Ask the laundry department. They often find things in washing machines and set them aside.

if the seller is nervous posting outside the Us, use Stackry. You can get it posted to their warehouse in Nashua, and when it arrives there you just have to pay for postage to the UK . I use it loads and it’s great.

It’s worth a try, you’re right. It would be good to have a spare, as well!!

I could ask, if the relisting doesn’t work. Thank you.
quote fail - I meant I could ask the seller about PayPal. I will definitely ask the laundry dept either way

It’s great to know this works; thank you. I have also asked a family member who lives in the US.

So many potential solutions have been suggested here - thank you all. Surely the cat can be repatriated! I’ll certainly update this thread.

Does the USA seller remember where it was bought?

They just said in the UK, but they’re a business seller I think and buy up a lot of second hand stock

So happy for you. And what a lovely thing to do for your son (although if it all works seamlessly, he may never know?!)
