Masterchef on their jollies again to Trinidad

I watch all the Masterchef programmes, but it has annoyed me that they have once again wasted money going abroad when there is no need.
This time it is Trinadad and its only cooking not even part of the competition.
It seems such a waste and its not only 6 people who go. It's all the production team too. For heaven's sake how much did that cost.
They could easily cook good local British fare, Australian Masterchef cook with lots of local food and ingredients without going out of the country.
I know we are just a small island but surely British Masterchef should showcase what we have.

It makes good TV? I quite enjoy the foreign jaunts.

I dont think it makes good tv at all.

I absolutely agree @Nos4r2 . I don't enjoy these episodes (nor the ones in the restaurants) and think they're just there for no longer John and Greg one g to have a jolly. I'm disappointed they're still doing it. It's an unnecessary spend of money the BBC could well do without wasting, the way they are going, and damaging to the planet.

Is that you Nigel?!

It’s a TV programme not social care .

I think it is a waste of money but I think Masterchef is a waste of money, it is on the TV all of the time, it seems like there are several Masterchef winners a year. It is so formulaic and I wonder how many dishes are left to cook with the 'expert' judges scoring them, consequently, the subjectivity make me question the Master Chef status. When are the BBC going to use the licence money to pay for some decent Dramas!

I very much doubt if the trip overseas makes much difference to the production budget.

They didn't go to Trinidad, they went to Antigua and Barbuda.

I've also seen Australian Masterchef go to Hong Kong, Singapore and most recently the middle east (can't remember which country it was).

I look on those trips as a kind of consolation prize for the 1 that does not make the final 3 and the 2 runners up.
Mind you, I am a little stumped on the eventual winner this year, as I thoight Antos was in the a very good chance.
The remaining 3 all have strengths and weaknesses, but I think Kristen might nail it, if she is having a good day.
