What is the best way for me to find a professional career?

  1. internships in asset management
  2. 11 months at big 4
  3. msc in economics
  4. 9 months at energy consultancy before failing probation

What do I do now? I can always tell people the 9 months were a ftc that ended as the firm only gives standard references

I guess the question is why did you fail probation? How self aware are you of your strengths and weaknesses? Can you list out what you have liked doing at work and what you didn't like? I realised that actually working was what led me to be able to articulate what I was looking for in a job. Figure out what you have liked doing so far the best, and that you think you are good at, and use that as a starting point. Then think laterally where you might be able to build on that.

Well what do you want to do? What do really want to do? Your current CV looks a bit spotty but that's to be expected at your age (I'm assuming you're only three years out from undergrad?).

Why only 11 months at a big 4? What were reasons for failing the probation?

I'm an academic so not the type of professional you're trying to be, but had friends who went into fancy careers after some jumping around taking short-term jobs such as teaching English abroad. In your case I recommend some intense LinkedIn stalking. Look up people doing the kind of jobs you think sound interesting and read their CVs.

Also talk to your careers office at the university(ies) you studied at.

failing probation wouldn’t be terrible if you hadn’t already walked away from big 4 after only 11 months. You’ve tried two high paced environments that didn’t work out so you should reevaluate and think hard about alternative environments that would suit you better.

What are you passionate about? You’ve done lots of different things for short terms, but none of it screams I love this and have a drive and passion for it. It sounds like your goal is to have a ‘professional career’, something high earning that looks good on paper. But that’s not what gets you out of bed each day. What do you love doing? What job would you still do for nothing if you won the lottery tomorrow? That’s the one you want.

I’d suggest you need a gentler sector or slower workplace as the high pressure environments seem to keep tripping you up. Look for one that’s more holistic for those with ND.
