GP : new IT system: 'emergencies only'

My GP practice (rural Scotland) is a mess. Only 1 f/t GP. 3 other p/t GPs (inc a half day/week head of practice). I saw my GP last Nov, on advice of Cardiologist. GP was to contact a diff specialist. In Feb I emailed to enquire progress. No reply. Finally got GP appt May. Queried & told 'we're busy', & I was "welcome to change practice if unhappy'.
That GP then went on hols without adding my new cardiac meds to my list (2 wks now)
No reply to enquiries re this either.

I just got a group text to say the practice is changing to a new IT system. For 2 weeks they will run as 'emergency only'. No appts, no prescriptions, no fit notes. 'In the coming weeks & months we will still be adjusting to our new system so services will be affected please be patient with us'. (forever?)

Effectively I don't have a GP. Nearest 2 practices I could register with are both full.
This is crap no?

That’s shit. Worse than mine (West Lothian) and that’s saying something. To be fair I have friends in other Practices who get a good service, it’s just clearly very inconsistent across the country. Not sure what you can do if other Practices are full though?

@Purplecatshopaholic A real low was when my 19 y/o was in heart failure & we had no contact with surgery after he was discharged from High Needs (a breezy 'oh, thought the specialists were handling it - when the discharge letter said he needed careful GP monitoring). After they also screwed up his meds a number of times we made a formal complaint. Nothing changes it seems.

OMG @TirednessOnToast, that is shocking, so sorry to hear and I hope your son is better now.

@Purplecatshopaholicthanks - he is still unwell (wearing a 48 hr Holter monitor as we speak) but we deal directly with Cardiology now.
