Partners 40th birthday ideas please!

my partners 40th is coming up later this year.. I'm wanting to arrange a mini holiday with our DC (both in infant school). Over October half term.

I'm totally stumped with where to go?!

maybe somewhere in Europe? Flying or driving over? Maybe a staycation?

please help me with ideas

Budget would be helpful? And an idea of the sort of things he likes?

He's not into beach holidays.
loves "experience" type gifts/trying new things.

budget... £1-2000? Could spend more for something fantastic.

If having fun with DC makes him happy, you could go to Billund in Denmark.

Original Legoland and other Lego attractions. Big indoor waterpark and activity centre.

Sadly Ryanair don't fly there any more but you can go direct from London or Edinburgh with BA or Norweigian.
