Do You Have A Talent?

I could pick out tunes on the piano from about age 3, then had lessons from age 6. Got to Grade 6 but often wish I’d continued to Grade 8. Playing the piano gives me so much joy. If I’ve had a bad day, I just lose myself in the music. Love to improvise & often record my pieces - a few people have said I should set up a You Tube channel 🎹🎵🎼🎶

I really don’t have any talents 😭😭😭

I bet you do!

BurnoutBee · 02/06/2026 10:32

@Calliopespa

Oh it’s true, it comes from years of childhood gymnastics and now adult yoga. It’s just an incredibly strong pelvic floor muscle that does it. 💦 😂

radioX · 02/06/2026 10:34

I suppose I can sing, nothing that couldn’t be improved with professional lessons though.

On command! That's amazing.

I have thought hard about this thread and, apart from a decent ability to sniff things, which is more a quirk, I don't really have a talent.

Brenzaida · 02/06/2026 10:36

I’m good at picking up languages, am a very fast and retentive reader and have a decent singing voice.

CraftyNavySeal · 02/06/2026 10:37

Driving jet skis and go karts, not that good at parking for some reason though

FennelGingerJasmineOrMint · 02/06/2026 10:42

Memorising maps and routes. I never use a satnav because I can look at a map once and remember the whole journey. Dh, on the other hand, can drive to a location he has driven a hundred times, using a sat nav and still get lost.

JBJ · 02/06/2026 10:49

I’m exceptionally good at tripping over fresh air, walking into door handles, picking up huge bruises that I’m not sure how I’ve acquired and generally injuring myself in every way possible 🤣

x2boys · 02/06/2026 10:51

Im.not sure its a talent but i hsve a very good memory and can accuratley recall events from many years ago
I also know a lot of random facts.

MargoLivebetter · 02/06/2026 10:53

Great thread @MarmaladeSandwich7 ! Love all the wonderful (and weird talents).

I'm ambidextrous. Bit rusty but with a few minutes of warm up I can write legibly with my left hand. On the downside, I really struggle with left & right!

I can listen to multiple conversations at the same time, whilst having a conversation. My DC said they were convinced I had a super-power when they were little because I could be chatting over the other side of the room and still somehow hear what monkey business they were scheming! Apparently, it makes you good at being a news-presenter because you can hear what is being said in your ear-piece without it distracting you from what you are reading on the teleprompter!

cooldarkroom · 02/06/2026 11:40

Apparently I have a talent for annoying my daughter !🙄

StarCourt · 02/06/2026 12:24

I have a decent singing voice. Can summarise really well and good at spotting patterns in things.

StarCourt · 02/06/2026 12:25

I’m also brilliant at choking on nothing.

Must be that you’ve just not discovered them yet.
How would you know where your talents might lay, if you’ve not even thought of, or been introduced to a new thing.
Maybe you’re a hidden treasure just waiting to be discovered 🥰

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 02/06/2026 13:20

I can cut just the right amount of butter by eye. Need 50g? Boom!

Useless, but satisfying.

Thank you; this is very optimistic! I’ll wait to find out what it is 🙈 x

Eating
lying down
annoying people

Gtfc · 03/06/2026 00:31

I can light a cigarette with my feet.

elliejjtiny · 03/06/2026 00:38

I remember really useless information. I remember the names of random illnesses from casualty, the names of people and their dc i haven't seen for 20 years and which of the barbie dolls and their clothes/accessories belong to each of my sisters. Anything useful I'm hopeless at. Ds2 can remember people's birthdays, he only needs to be told once. Even if he doesn't know them.

canuckup · 03/06/2026 03:45

I can look in the fridge and make a meal out of anything

I'm also excellent at picking out the correct Tupperware to fit the volume of food to be stored.

StarlightLady · 03/06/2026 05:45

I can take my bra off without taking my top off using one hand.

I used to work in a greengrocers and could choose exactly the right amount of onions (for example) to make an exact lb or whatever was asked for. Haven’t thought about that for ages, thank you.

I have the very unfortunate super power of hyperosmia. I can sniff out the source of weird smells at 100 paces (and smell things on the turn way earlier than other people). My mates use me like a bloodhound.

DH calls me a bloodhound - I have an acute sense of smell. Not sure if I have what you have though.

I can bend my thumb backwards to touch my wrist, it’s not a very useful talent. 🤣

mondaytosunday · 01/06/2026 21:24

Ermmmm no. I can walk into an ummodernised mouldy house and envision it done up and did that for a while but I think more a skill than a talent. My son’s (22) superpower is being able to strike up a conversation with anyone, no matter what age, demographic or what. He saw a council worker picking up rubbish and stopped and had a long chat with them. He knows the life story of any delivery guy. He goes to buy an air fryer and the manager is telling him he should apply for a job there. When he was 15 he got friendly with the local homeless guy and would sit with him for a couple hours some days just shooting the breeze. That’s his talent.
If I could chose one it would be singing. I’d love to be able to do that (my son can, like his dad).

I’m like my maternal GF - he could talk to anyone. People can be so interesting.
