Reasonably Priced Catering for Very Informal Wedding Celebration at Home

We are due to get married next month and are having a smallish wedding party at home after the ceremony. I would like it to feel really relaxed and easy going without too much fuss. I have considered doing the catering myself but, to be honest, I have been so busy recently that making sandwiches and cooking sausage rolls on the morning of the wedding doesn’t really appeal.

I have considered using Sainsbury’s Occasions and ordering the sandwiches, savoury pastries, coleslaw etc but have read mixed reviews. Some have said that they have arrived to pick up the food and it hasn’t been there or not ready to collect. I would consider asking a local cafe to cater it but it is our village fayre that day and I think it would potentially be a rush job so they can concentrate on the increased footfall they will be expecting.

I would be ever so grateful if anyone could share their experiences of using Sainsbury’s for this kind of thing or if anyone has any other suggestions!

Is there a Costco near you? They do platters of food, large cakes, cheesecakes etc

Order a load of pizzas or Chinese

I would look locally. Try the Facebook pages.

I have used Sainsbury’s often for casual parties (mostly for my kids birthdays). I’ve never had anything not arrive. It’s easy and the quality is fine - it costs more than to do it yourself of course and isn’t quite as nice as freshly made but it’s a time saver and has always gone down ok with the guests, so it’s worth it to me.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Good to hear that you haven’t had any issues with Saninsbury’s @GolfingGoddess.

@Gateappreciation we do have a Costco fairly locally so that may be a good avenue, thank you.

Morrison’s food to order is absolutely brilliant!

Highly recommend them and I’ve used M&S, Costco and Sainsbury’s

Waitrose is reliable for this kind of thing. Order in advance, send someone to collect on the morning.

Thank you for all of your suggestions. I will have a look at both Morrisons and Waitrose too.
