Mobile phone use in Europe

Recently I went to Europe and my mobile phone provider (Tesco) shows on the website that I can use my phone as normal there. So I turned roaming off, but still used up my monthly GB in no time at all. What did I do wrong?

I’m also with Tesco Mobile. Using my data & call allowances in EU countries always works perfectly. A few minutes after I land I get a text from Tesco Mobile along the lines of :

’Welcome to Germany, one of our home from home destinations. You can use your call & data allowances as normal’ etc etc.

My phone then connects to the local phone & 4G network & it just works fine. I don’t turn off roaming, because that’s what it’s supposed to do.

I don’t know why yours didn’t work if you were in an EU country. Maybe contact Tesco Mobile & see if they can explain.
