What do you do when you can't make sense of something? A horrible needless death 😭

Sometimes things don't happen for a reason. They just happened.

Pickledonion1999 · 31/05/2026 20:37

Yes I was pondering this yesterday. Three ex colleagues having lost children ( two toddlers and one an adult child ). It is truly heartbreaking.

AnonymityAnonymity · 31/05/2026 20:38

Do you want to talk about what has happened OP?
You might find that helpful.

YelramBob · 31/05/2026 20:38

It's so bad. A woman died, a customer of mine.

She took her own life

There's no rhyme or reason for things. No cosmic plan. No higher being who is pulling the strings. Things just happen and sometimes those things are nice and sometimes they're awful. This can make it easier to deal with as there's literally no reason the thing happened. It's not your fault.

Time is a healer and eventually people come out the other side.

AnonymityAnonymity · 31/05/2026 20:42

Oh I'm so sorry OP.
That is a difficult thing to cope with.

YelramBob · 31/05/2026 20:42

She took her own life because she was scammed out of her life savings

I’m so sorry OP. I hope you can grieve and come to a place of acceptance. It is very hard, but unfortunately cannot be changed and accepting and moving forward is all you can do.

This is terrible

Chocolattcoffeecup · 31/05/2026 20:43

Sorry OP

FlipARock · 31/05/2026 20:43

A customer? In that situation with it not being someone that I’d describe as being close to, I would feel sad for the people who it will affect, count my blessings and remember to check in with my own loved ones. Life is shit sometimes.

YelramBob · 31/05/2026 20:45

My colleagues found her dead at her property

A person's life just wiped out like that because of scammers

Words fail me OP. That is truly horrendous.

The poor woman being driven to such desperation by evil criminals. Absolutely heart breaking.
And devastating for your colleagues and for yourself.

You couldn't make it up. It's in the hands of CID now but no idea if they'll find them.

I keep crying thinking about her

OP posts:
Besidemyselfwithworry · 31/05/2026 21:18

How awful 😢
I hope they bring the scammers to justice.

scoobydeedoo · 31/05/2026 21:20

I relate to how your feeling. Our local lollypop lady "ladybop" as my DD used to call her, who I had seen twice nearly every day for 6 weeks and gotten to know well passed away suddenly from cancer.

I remember her telling me she was worried about an upcoming appointment and then I didn't see her again. 6 weeks later we were told she had passed away. I still feel sad every time I walk across that road, she was always there smiling every weekday morning and afternoon.

I hope her loved ones find some peace, it's awful how low people can sink to scam good hard-working people. I hope they get caught and go to prison.

AnonymityAnonymity · 31/05/2026 21:22

Cry as much as you need to OP.

I think the truly awful thing about these scams is that the person who has been scammed feels ashamed. They feel as though they have somehow been stupid for falling for the scam. Whereas the reality is these scammers are so convincing, so good at what they do, that ANYONE, even the most vigilant and sophisticated person , can be taken in by them.

You're right, I think the victim feels shame .

All I can think about is how this poor woman chose to end her life, it's haunting me. She was a beautiful elegant woman
