hi, i absolutely love summer and am in my element when it’s 20+ degrees outside and i’m in shorts and a vest top or a sundress or a playsuit, in all honesty, i almost feel euphoric. in autumn/winter the cold weather, biting wind, heavy rain and snow makes me feel horrendous my grandad remarked in the recent heatwave that i’m like a plant, thriving in the heat and dying in the coldGrin.
the climate of britain is very much against me and i would love to go to a hotter climate in the a/w months but i would miss my family (especially my grandparents) far too much plus i do like the town i live in, i just hate the climate as i said.
i have a friend who is the exact opposite to me, she loves the dark nights, cold temperatures, listening to the rain and wind in her fluffy pjs etc, everything i hate and while i know it would be a boring world if everyone was the same, i just can’t grasp what people enjoy about what is quite frankly hell on earth for me. i do love the run up to christmas and christmas day itself but come boxing day, my mood is lower than the ground again.
if i could have hot sunny weather constantly i think my mental and physical health would be infinitely better.
i just wondered other people’s thoughts?

There’s about 30 odd threads about this every year, there was 2 last week. Many people hate summer/love winter and vice versa.

Yes! This is me. I think I was born in the wrong country. The world is a brighter place when the sun is out. I love it and am not moaning about the temperature.

troothfairy · 31/05/2026 20:49

Me. Seems I’m solar powered.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 31/05/2026 20:49

I feel like life slows down when the suns shines, I love it too.

Sally2791 · 31/05/2026 20:51

I’m with you OP

HelenHywater · 31/05/2026 20:52

Me too. I love it. I start to get depressed in late August when the leaves start changing. I can just about deal with the period up to Christmas, but after that I need to leave the country for at least 3 months.

MrsKateColumbo · 31/05/2026 20:53

Agree OP, I think I was meant to be a lizard. The only time I have genuinely been too hot was in Dubai in August!

PinkPerpetue · 31/05/2026 20:54

I’m like your friend

JuliettaCaeser · 31/05/2026 20:55

I’m with you op. I should have been Spanish.

Fraudornot · 31/05/2026 20:55

Yes I get so much done in summer but hibernate in my dressing gown in winter

elliesmummy19 · 31/05/2026 20:58

I’m the opposite. I’ve been telling my husband all week (he says he likes the heat too) that people who say they like the heat are just lying 😁

Cobrakainerd · 31/05/2026 20:58

I love it warm and sunny, I'd prefer to have 3 months holiday to enjoy it though rather than statutory minimum holiday though. Not great working all day. I'd rather be out to play in it like I was in 1976! 😂

wavingfuriously · 31/05/2026 21:00

Same here OP, love the sunshine 🌞 I get that SAD thing when Winter approaches...feel the cold

Comedycook · 31/05/2026 21:00

I agree entirely. I live for the summer. I despise winter and autumn. I loathe the dark evenings, it makes me so miserable.

A year without summer is like a life without love

TulipsMakeMeHappy · 31/05/2026 21:03

Me too. I love this time of year and start to feel down in September when thinking about all the grim months of weather bro come. I wish I could afford a mid-winter break ever year it makes such a difference to have some sun to look forward to.

SquadGoals75 · 31/05/2026 21:07

I couldn’t agree more. It’s bloody brilliant. Everything is so much easier… laundry drying outside, kids playing in the garden instead of being stuck indoors, loads more options for days out. When I retire I’m going to rent an apartment somewhere hot Oct-March.

Pollqueen · 31/05/2026 21:07

I agree OP. I was born and brought up in the tropics and love, love, love this weather

LarksAscending · 31/05/2026 21:08

Personally I think every season has something going for it. There is no bad weather only bad clothing.

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 31/05/2026 21:09

Yes this is definitely me. I turn into a completely different person when it’s sunny. I am pretty miserable over autumn/winter/spring. Luckily I do love Christmas which helps a bit, but for the most part I hate it.

WingBingo · 31/05/2026 21:12

Everything is better when the sun is out. I love waking up to blue skies.

Having said that, I also enjoy the change of seasons. Cosy winter evenings are wonderful.

TheKittenswithMittens · 31/05/2026 22:18

I love September. I wish it could be September all year round. Children back at school. Warm without being too hot. Holidays cheaper than in high summer. Not light too early or dark too late.

JuliettaCaeser · 31/05/2026 22:23

May - early January I can find good in all those months . February to April are the worst.
