Wouldn't eat the following now:

Findus crispy pancakes, fish in parsley sauce think it was boil in the bag, kids sized cheese and tomato pizza- used to come in a multipack frozen, faggots, ice-pops, ski yoghurts,,smash mash, tinned veg or tinned peas, turkey burgers in bread crumbs, alphabites, tinned fruit cocktail, birds custard powder and st ivel gold butter I think it was called .

would still eat, but don't as a rule:

Artic roll, Venetia, angel delight, but only butterscotch, frozen mousses that were vanilla and raspberry came in a multi pack, frosties.

Tongue. It was a few years before I realised it was actually....tongue.

Cockles.

Bushwoolie · Today 20:50

I have angel delight in my cupboard 🤣
I would also just have the dream topping (from trifle) on it's own. That was my "I have grown up money and can buy what I want" purchase with my first wage!
No to faggots and lamb grill steaks. Boiled potatoes and gammon. All good I was forced to eat as a child.

thinkofsomethingdifferent · Today 20:51

PEK. I mean, what even is it? We used to have chips, PEK and beans. Yuk. Also I would never now “lick the bowl” after baking. All those raw eggs I must have consumed Confused.

Floattheboats · Today 20:52

braised hearts. Pork chops yuk

Dearg · Today 20:55

No to Creamola Foam. My teeth want to leave my mouth just typing it.

Yes to Angel Delight Butterscotch. I take a pack on every self catering holiday we do 😳

DelilahBucket · Today 21:06

I was fed so much in the way of processed food as a child and I can't stand it now. Child of the 80's and 90's and a mum who for the most part of my childhood was too poorly to cook anything. I fended for myself a lot, so Pot Noodles and heavily margerined white bread featured on a regular basis for example.

I do still have lemon and sugar pancakes for Shrove Tuesday, because that was the one thing my mum continued to make until my brother left home (I was about 9 then). After that her mental health quickly deteriorated and she was sectioned for the first time shortly after.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · Today 21:07

gooseberries and this sort of meat substitute in a tin, thought it was called Granose but maybe not. Apart from that I’m fairly lucky as I wasn’t fed nasty food.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · Today 21:12

I would eat:-

alphabetti spaghetti
deep fried chips
eggy bread
arctic roll
my nana’s fry ups - even fried egg on toast was nice.

can’t think of much else.

wouldn’t eat, black pudding, my stepdad occasionally used to get it and give us a taste, vile stuff.

Oh I think I could manage vienetta- do they still make it?

Are they the ‘original’ walnut whips, or a knock off?

Originals, though I think they abandoned actual walnuts a while ago… I was this close to getting some and now I have not-buyers remorse.

DisrobeDatrobe · Today 21:26

GinToBegin · Today 19:36

Our local Farmfoods sells Walnut Whips. I suspect these days they’ve been no nearer to an actual walnut than they have the moon, but I was very tempted to get a pack anyway.

They used to have half an actual walnut on the top - no idea whether they still do!

Patyo · Today 21:26

Salads, special K, any kind of weird 90s/00 diet meals, not my choice to have them but basically gave me eating issues growing up as my mother was obsessed with diet and fat.

crumbles, of all varieties, had a lovely friend who’s mother made the most delicious custard and crumbles. Choc ices, they’re such a nostalgic thing for me. Polar pops haven’t had one in a while but during covid I ended up going down memory lane and loving them

Mcdhotchoc · Today 21:27

Toast toppers. Jeez.
Liver bacon and onions still food of the gods.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · Today 21:30

Everything. I'm not at all fussy. It's why I'm fat. A lot of things mentioned here are quite common in my house!

DreamingOfGeneHunt · Today 21:31

They certainly do, there's even a very fashionable pistachio flavour.

Familyandmore · Today 21:33

Redburnett · Today 20:35

Luncheon meat.
Not sure if it counts as food but small sweets on elastic that we wore as a necklace while sucking the sugar out.......(1960s)
Fried liver, complete with tubes.

I remember the sweetie necklace !

RubynRita · Today 21:42

No to Whelks, better known to us as willicks, sugar sandwiches, white cod cooked in milk with bread to dip in it, pigs feet and liver and onions.

Yes to rice pudding, angel delight, swede with bacon.

GreenSummerLeaf · Today 21:45

2dogsandabudgie · Today 18:26

Wouldn't eat jelly, blamange. Sandwich spread, not sure if they still do that.

I love Sandwich Spread, it’s the lunch of my childhood summers, and yes they still make it…yum.

TheProvincialLady · Today 21:46

Would not eat:
Tinned fruit salad (ugh those cherries)
Angel Delight
Any kind of meat (liver, haslet, luncheon meat, tinned ham, pork pies with jelly in them, everything made from minced meat and roast pork every Sunday made me a lifelong vegetarian as soon as I could cook for myself)
Tinned spaghetti….so sugary and slimy
Trifle from a packet

Still eat
Dumplings (these days with veg suet)
Rice pudding…home made only
Steamed puddings and custard
Weetabix….having a revival in my house currently!
Not much else really. My childhood diet was mostly awful

You can still get walnut whips at Christmas, my now adult kids were gutted when they weren't in their Christmas treat bag a couple of years ago (also gutted they didn't get a stocking lol)

Anyway, yes to sandwich spread, sardine and tomato paste and rarely, faggots, I always have those in. Plus banana sandwiches and I do eat cold rice pudding from the tin when no one is around

No to tinned corned beef and probably also wouldn't eat a sugar sandwich now but also loved them

@SooPeedoes the way you’ve worded this mean you’ll eat corned beef not out of a tin, eg from a deli counter?

The reason I ask is because I worked on a deli counter years ago… the slices you get on there are from an industrial size tin of corned beef. Literally identical stuff!

Tillow4ever · Today 22:01

Wouldn’t eat/drink: Tea (my parents forced me to constantly, one time I threw up afterwards and got such a telling off), jam sandwiches, haslet, frozen chips/potato products like Smiles. Until Shippams stopped making it, chicken paste would have been on my still eat list, but alas they don’t and no other brand is as good.

Would/do eat: Fish fingers (Birds Eye cod ones), dumplings, jam roly poly, home made deep fat fried chips, Arctic roll, angel delight (strawberry please), spaghetti hoops, corned beef & ketchup sandwiches

Cyclingmummy1 · Today 22:04

I bloody love ox tongue! And black pudding.

Pek brings back memories - in a curry anyone? Don't know if I could eat it now.
