Has anyone else bought the small shredding knives that are popping up all over Facebook?

Hi everyone, I recently bought two sets of two small shredding knives that were on Facebook, and looked amazing. They were shredding lettuce and cabbage, and doing all sorts of things! I just tried them today, and they are extremely flimsy, and rubbish really I just wondered if anyone else has seen the advert as I cannot find any trace of the transaction in my emails. Thank you 🙏

Those videos are AI as fuck.

This is one of them -

No, but I fell for the ‘amazing, no effort’ garlic crusher. Absolute shite - tried it once, it went straight in the bin.

TBH I’m now very wary of anything advertised on FB - especially if it’s demonstrated by any woman with obviously fake, over-long nails.

AI trash, here's a video of someone trying it out.

Yes, they are useless. I've put them in the box for the tip. I blame myself really. I am a sucker for things like that. I really should learn my lesson. All the warning signs were there. I must have rule never, ever to buy things from a Facebook/Instagram ad.

Rarasong · 31/05/2026 18:03

Thank you everyone! No wonder they look so brilliant! I am going to contact them, if I can find their information, and ask for a refund. I probably won’t get one, but this thread might stop somebody else from falling for the same scam!

I haven’t seen the garlic crusher thank goodness - or I would be definitely buying that!

@Rarasong You should find the details of your payment on your bank statement or in PayPal or however you paid. I did get emails re delivery but you may find they went into your spam folder. It might not be labelled with the name of the seller. There were loads and loads of adverts, all from different sellers, which should have been my warning!

I think it is a fruitless task trying to get a refund. I have just written the loss off and put it down to experience and a lesson learnt for the future.

Thanks for the thread. I was wondering about putting comments on the ads but I doubt it if helps. Hopefully this will put others off.

i’m sorry you’ve been disappointed-but maybe you can take a little comfort from saving me? I’ve had them in the back of my mind for ages and it would only have been a matter of time before I seccumbed!

@CurlewKate The advertising is relentless and very effective. I sort of knew it was likely to be a scam of some sort. Facebook and Instagram seem to be full of this sort of thing. I am going to cut down my use of these platforms. I can't just close the account as it is useful for local stuff and a few friends and family.

SamAylward · 31/05/2026 18:31

No. They seem pointless and how do you sharpen them when they get blunt?

Total dross. Do it just as well with a sharp knife and basic (very basic) knife skills.

If it's advertised on Facebook and/or Instagram it is, ipso facto, cheap, worthless shit.

I never thought of looking in my spam folder! Thank you so so much!

I can’t find the transaction on my PayPal, but there is something on my PayPal, but it doesn’t give any details at all.

And you are right, I probably won’t get a refund, I just hate the thought of being ripped off!

Oh absolutely, I take great comfort from that. I really didn’t want anybody else to have fallen for it, so glad that you have been saved :-)

This style of thing is good. I use mine a lot. Vegetable shredder

I've just noticed that the ones we are complaining about are in the row down from my link in Amazon! But only getting 2 star reviews. LOL!

Lifesyoungdream · 31/05/2026 18:41

I’ve seen them on YouTube and was tempted to buy them. Thank you for letting me know that they weren’t worth the money. I owe you one 😀

I bought what was supposed to be a super bright torch that could light up the whole darden. What came was a tiny little torch the type you can buy on the market for about 50p. I paid around £12 so contacted seller through my paypal and they started offering 40p refund then 60p, then they wanted me to pay to return to china which cost more than the bloody thing cost. Eventually paypal chat agreed that sending it back was silly and refunded me.
i learnt my lesson and remind myself of this every time i get sucked in to a facebook product.

If there's something on your PayPal can you raise a PayPal dispute?
