Volunteers’ week in the uk runs from 1st to 7th June and is an opportunity to recognise the contributions volunteers make.
So what do you do and why is it important to you?

Cub Leader (soon to be Squirrels)

I genuinely love watching the chikdren kearn new things. Ive seen the long term benefits of organisarions like Scouts/Guides/Cadets and am happy to help the next generation get those experiences.

I’m not usually one for the ‘are you writing an article’ replies but what a bizarre way to phrase a post, so - you go first, OP.

Not sure what’s so bizarre about the title…
i volunteer in a charity shop two afternoons per week
Am a parish councillor and chair of the trustees of a local charity.
Why?
being involved in my local community is important to me and if younger people (younger than 75 in my village!) don’t take on these roles then the services we provide disappear.

That’s great. Many years ago I was a Ranger Guide and helped with the local Brownie pack- loved it.

4 full days of chairing school appeals next week. It's that time of year!

Ah yes. I get quite a lot of pressure from somebody of my acquaintance who is on the Parish Council to join it too. She is retired, and apparently "I am a single mum of two and also work" is not a valid excuse 🤦‍♀️. There's a reason why a lot of campaigning and volunteering is done by retired people and students! I look forward to doing more volunteering and community stuff when the DC are grown and flown.

That said, it looks like I'm in charge of the communal polytunnel on the allotments this year, so that's what I'm doing- providing tomatoes to the community.
