I once forgot to pack any knickers - we were going to a wedding in the Czech Republic., first night in Prague, so I went on a knicker-hunt first thing, and have never been so pleased to find an M&S in my life!

Toothbrushes

Enough pain meds. Had a tooth out two days before flying and ran out within a few days. Had to hunt a pharmacy. Now I’ve massively stocked up just in case.

Went on a UK break once and forgot my swimming costume 😂Had to go find an Asda for a quick one.

The DCs clothes.

rockthemix · 31/05/2026 12:06

I forgot pants. Had to go and get a pack from Tesco 😂

ReignOfError · 31/05/2026 12:08

My passport.

Thankfully it was for a ferry, not a flight, and they were good about rescheduling.

DH once forgot his bag of shoes (UK holiday so he should have put them in the car) and for the whole week he had only the tatty old ones he'd worn for driving.

Got to Airport in LA & had forgotten tickets to San Francisco had to do a taxi back to Hotel.

Went away for a weekend with DH including a booking at a very smart restaurant. We left his shirt on a hanger behind the door along with his smart shoes. Super quick shopping trip before we went out!

Also managed to not pack DH any pants when we went away for a different weekend (he was working late and I had the afternoon off before anyone jumps on me for doing his packing!). Fortunately there was a massive Tesco down the road so grabbed some more easily.

My former boss once left an entire suitcase at home! Ended up leaving his wife and dogs to sleep in the tent and doing a late night drive home, quick sleep, early drive back from approx 4 hrs away!

My antidepressants. I'd just started reducing the dose, but had to go cold turkey (not recommended). We were staying at a place halfway down a cliff - 97 steep concrete steps and I became so dizzy I couldn't face going up and down often - and I handed my bicycle back into the rental place as I couldn't stay on as the world was constantly tilted sideways.

Squirrelchops1 · 31/05/2026 12:31

Nothing major that I haven't been able to purchase wherever I was.

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 31/05/2026 12:37

Knickers

doitwithlove · 31/05/2026 12:49

Make up. I felt bare all week 😂

SconehengeRevenge · 31/05/2026 12:59

The bloody tent!

That was an expensive mistake.

And it was my fault 🙈

outnumbered77 · 31/05/2026 13:05

Bras (except the one I was wearing). No big shops around either.

I go away tomorrow and need to pack this afternoon so this is a good thread but I'm concerned it may be a bad omen.

When I was pregnant with our first baby, my husband was always coming home from work and springing surprise little trips away like camping in Wales for a night - he excitedly got home from work, told me to get in the car and he was taking me to a lovely campsite in Anglesey that I used to visit as a child.

It was really late when we arrived and the owner (who'd been there for decades and was lovely) obviously thought we were a bit bonkers to arrive in the dark to pitch up (not wrong, but this is the crazy side of my DH that I love) - he made me stay in the car as he did all of the work and the tent was up and ready and with a gorgeous sea view by 10pm and he realised he'd forgotten ALL of the sleeping stuff - mats, sleeping bags, pillows etc and also the camping stove.

Spent a freezing night snuggled together under his long black coat as I couldn't get comfortable in the car and then first thing in the morning it was off to find a cafe in this tiny village just to have a cup of tea.

It turned out to be one of our family stories that we still laugh about now.

All my makeup/toiletries when I went on honeymoon!
Luckily realised at the airport so I was able to pick up some basics there

dementedpixie · 31/05/2026 13:52
