Is there a simple to use, relatively cheap printer that I can just connect up via cable to my computer and print in black and white?

I have a HP wireless piece of shit which works only, if it's a full moon, the wind is from the north east and and there's an x in the name of the month! GRRRRR

99% of what I want to print is black and white, labels for returning stuff etc.

What's the best solution?
TIA

QR codes for returning stuff are much less faff than printing labels but regarding a printer switching my HP off and on whilst swearing at it seems to work most of the time

I gave up with my old HP printer (inkjet) and bought a
Brother HL- L1242W laser printer. Basic, mono, no scanner, connected to my iMac with a cable (which I already had - important to note that the printer it doesnt come with that) a bit of faffing around with the settings on the Mac and done.
It doesn't need the cable now, (it seemed to connect by itself!) and so far it's not failed me.

Stares at it just to make sure it's not going to prove me wrong............

Any other suggestions?
