Something that’s got better, something that’s worse

I’m on a long motorway journey (I’m not driving!) and I’m so grateful to have mobile signal enough to stream music. I remember when my brother first had a phone with internet connectivity and it was shit, but still mindblowing tech for the time. Now here I am, posting this.

But something that’s got shitter is definitely chocolate. It’s hard to find nice chocolate these days. Or maybe I’m just fussier now I’m older 😁

Trains are much worse and having so many trains you can’t use as you have the “wrong” ticket.
Its pretty easy to buy a ticket. though - apps/in person/ machine. And theres easy refunds and compensation now.

Better:

  • sonic toothbrushes, would never go back to manual.
  • curly hair products! Omg so much better nowadays, when I look back at old photos 🫣

Worse:

  • Space around newly built houses… no room to park, tiny garden spaces.
  • so many fast food places and ease to get it delivered, making awful diets ridiculously easy to fall into.

I weaned myself onto the 100% cocoa & honestly, you never look back.

Ooh @EmpressaurusKitty interesting, I’ll look into that! Do you have a favourite brand?

Definitely agree with the curly hair products @Flipflopflipflapper no child need ever know the horror of the insane frizz that I endured in the 90s

Montezuma Absolute Black - you do need to work up to it but it’s a world away from Cadburys!

Doesn’t your face cave in eating it?!

Survived so far…

Better - my commute. Rather than having to travel to London, I took a local job. No more crawling out at the crack of sparrows, rushing for trains and not getting a seat. Now I drive four miles along rural lanes, queue over a level crossing and park. In the summer I can cycle. Bliss 😊

Worse - strawberries. I bought some British strawberries yesterday and they tasted of nothing.

Better. Clothes shopping for people who hate clothes shopping. Now all online and all the choice and delivered to your door.
Worse. Clothes shopping for people who love clothes shopping. Little in the shops.

I’m in the first camp so it’s marvellous.

Worse - buying proper shoes. I miss shoe shops as I have sensitive feet and don't buy online. Our only shop is Clark's and they are silly money now and rubbish quality.

Better - ovens and freezers that clean/defrost themselves. I'm never going back to either of those jobs.
