Discontinued items and opportunistic sellers - rant!

Double rant alert! Why do companies make great products then discontinue them?! Aveda’s sepia eye pencil is unmatched anywhere - I’ve literally searched and searched for that shade and failed.

Creighton’s Gradual Tan - I was buying it at just a couple of quid and it was amazing for my fave - soft coconut oil and a lovely, LOVELY fragrance - it gave me a gradual glow that no other product can match - gone without warning BUT unscrupulous eBay sellers are charging £££
hundreds for a tube! If I knew that these things were being discontinued, I would have stocked up <wails>!!!

Why do they do this??

Don’t suppose any of you have these products unused in the back of your cupboards??’ Begging here!

I don’t really see charging more for a rare item as unscrupulous, just market forces.

Agree. It's frustrating for you, Op, but there's no lying or cheating or forcing you to buy it involved.

I'd love to get hold of the original formula Frizz Ease serum! Am spending lots trying to find a dupe for it (so far no luck) so I feel your pain!

OldWave · 29/05/2026 10:42

Tbh if they were good products that worked well, I'd assume they contained some kind of horrible toxic chemical that the companies are quietly taking off the market before they get caught out...

Feastsbaby · 29/05/2026 10:45

I agree. Just like Vinted is full of out of stock items from places like b&m etc. Stacey Solomon, Mrs Hinch stuff.

ThejoyofNC · 29/05/2026 10:46

Supply and demand. Isn't that obvious?

LittleEsme · 29/05/2026 11:01

I know, I know! But I could buy it for £2 and I’d happily pay £25, but it’s on eBay for £299!
