Please, please help me with my make up

I need some help!

I am 41, I have rosacea on my nose and forehead that I’m really self conscious about (I’ve tried various remedies, nothing seems to take the redness away).

I moisturise every day and I wear a fairly light layer of foundation, with a layer of pressed powder and then some powder bronzer. I find if I don’t pack powder on my nose the make up just slides off and exposes the redness.

I thought this was ok but today I caught myself in the mirror in natural light and my god, horrendous. Face a dry as a bone. Every pore and wrinkle on display. Patchy.

Please help. I apparently don’t have a fecking clue how to wear make up.

If your skin is looking dry, I'd suggest it's more about your prep than your makeup application. Get a good natural cleanser and moisturiser. I recommend ella&jo! And drink more water.

Go back to your GP and get the rosacea sorted out first. Soolantra might work, it's a prescription medication for rosacea. There's no point in throwing lots of money at make up until the underlying cause is rectified.

Have you tried primers underneath your make up and setting sprays to layer on top? E.L.F do good and relatively cheap primers and setting sprays.

Agree with a GP prescription for the rosacea.

What do you wash your face with? We had another thread recently and quite a few people deduced that Liz Earle was upsetting their skin. Probably the essential oils in it. You could be irritating your skin barrier at the first step and undermining all your moisturising etc.

I have rosacea (mostly under control now) and I use the E45 Foaming Face Wash with no issues.

But yeah I don’t seem to have much luck with moisturiser. Nothing seems to work well. My most recent attempt is an aveeno one because it was meant to have a “cooling, calming effect” but it’s still so dry

That would suggest to me the moisturiser isn't for you. Honestly I would work on the skin first and then the make up application will sort itself.

I use a natural cleanser and moisturiser, and an enzymatic peel once a week

I use epiderm which is an eczema moisturiser at night. (I don't have eczema) it's brilliant and cheap plus hydrates my skin
