Period return post breastfeeding

I realise this might be a “how long is a piece of string” question but when did your periods return after stopping breastfeeding? DS is 19 weeks and I was breastfeeding for the first 12 weeks (although combi feeding with one or two bottles a day). 7 weeks after stopping completely, AF still hasn’t returned! I have felt so horribly bloated and sluggish like it’s on its way back for weeks now.

Mine returned while I was still breastfeeding but we were at the 2.5 year mark by that point so I couldn’t complain too much!

Mine came back both times at 6 months, with DC1 I stopped breastfeeding a couple of weeks before, with DC2 I was still breastfeeding.

Four months - breastfed for 12.

I stopped at 20m and my period came back about five months after. It's very irregular now though, possibly on the way out. Last two cycles were 36d then 21d.

That’s interesting and something I hadn’t considered. I’m nearly 38 and my sister was in full blown menopause by 44.

First baby they came back about 18 months and second baby about 2.5 years. Was amazing!

6 months and 8 months pp for me. Was combined feeding both. I think the short answer is....it depends...

It’s impossible to say. When I FF my first, I had no sign of a period yet when I went back on the pill at 5 months. With my one who was EBF, it came back at 2 months every 28 days like clockwork even though I was feeding him round the clock until he was 16 months. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I never felt particularly PMS-y before though. It just arrived.

I fed for 13 and 20 months and both times they returned 2m after the last feed. DS1 was fed for less time because I wanted to TTC for baby 2 but the feeds were fizzling off and he was recently diagnosed with CMPA so I'd have had to go allergen-free to continue.

I knew someone who conceived at 4m while BFing which shocked her as baby 1 had been a long time coming.

It's very variable!
