Feeling 200 years old because I can’t make instagram work

[weeps]

It’s happening. I’m 57 and I’ve hit the technology ceiling. I’ve had an Instagram account for about ten years and I have no idea. At all. I get notifications and I try and look at them, it shows me something else, I try and swipe, up, down, left, right, nothing?? Then it expires. I think. I look at their account and there’s nothing I recognise on it. I’ve certainly never posted anything of my own. I got a research grant claiming I would promote the report on social media, and it’s stuck on Linked In, best I can do. My friends and family are living entire lives in public and I’m behind a curtain of cluelessness. Is there some sort of ‘socials for the elderly’ class at my local library or something?

Find a tame teenager. They’ll make you feel 6” tall, but will probably be patient enough to do it a few times. At least, the one I found was 🤣 She doesn’t mind me messaging her to ask why it’s not worked, either!

Yes same here. I hate it when someone directs me to 'insta'. I have no idea how to use it.
