DH and I are getting away this weekend for an unexpected couple of days in Wales. We are staying near the Elan Valley and want to do some walking and see the impressive scenery. Im going to check out some of the local trails but wondered if any MNers have walked around here and could advise on the best routes, etc. I dont think i can walk more than ten miles...!
Thanks in advance

If you go to the visitors’ centre, you’re at the start of a lovely walk across the dam and up past where they trialled the bouncing bomb. Lots of info at the centre as well and they always did a nice breakfast!

Top dam to bottom dam along the old railway track only problem is you then have to walk back to your car!! There’s a nice walk round Gareth Ddu reservoir leave your car at the top there’s a car park there. Circular walk quite a way but second half is along the old railway track. There are walks up in the hills but they had a lot of mountain fires recently so it might be a bit hard going. Very nice cafe at penbont house. Generally remember there is virtually no phone signal anywhere so take a paper map. You can hire bikes at the visitor centre as well as maps. It’s a pretty drive over the mountain road to Devils Bridge and you can walk down to see the waterfalls and the bridges although you have to pay for that.

That is super helpful, much appreciated! Good cafes are always a bonus too.
