When did they start this gubbins? Only able to order ONE, therefore not able to take advantage of the free delivery for purchases over £50.

John Lewis was my go to but this kind of thing puts me off.

This was for shower gel but I spotted it early this month on plates. Both items were on offer.

hope photo loads.

Is it because items were on offer so they limited? You could have bought other things alongside. Seems reasonable to me.

It was certainly like that in the December/January sales.

If you sort by “Discount % high to low”, especially for cheap items like haberdashery, you often find all the best bargains are delivery from store only and, as you mention, you can only buy one at once.

mynameiscalypso · 26/05/2026 21:57

I thought it generally meant that they didn’t have any in stock in their warehouses but that goods would have to come from a store instead hence the limit too. You get it with Next sometime too.

Examples in the pictures, when they load. All 8 items you can see are “Delivery from store” only.

75p for a sock pattern, plus £4:50 to have it sent to you.

No, you can’t buy other things alongside. It’s that one item only, you can’t even buy two of the same item even if there are more than two in stock in some branches.

It’s quite cut down on the joy of bargain hunting in the sale, as you have to add £4:50 to each of the best bargains. 😉 If it’s clothes etc £4:50 is less significant than if it’s something on sale for £5 or less, for example.

Blundl · 26/05/2026 22:07

It s because it's only available in store and sold out online, generally its sale or very popular things. The store has to pack it up to send it to you. I bought something like that about six months ago that was heavily reduced that I wanted, it was still good value even with the postage.

suburburban · 26/05/2026 22:08

Yes it’s really irritating

Blundl · 26/05/2026 22:08

You could always not buy it or buy from elsewhere

IsThisEverOkay00 · 26/05/2026 22:12

I know I’ll just have to go into the physical shop it’s not really a problem. I used to like their click & collect to waitrose. Which they still do just not on these particular discounts. It was molton brown shower gel which I’m always on the hunt for a bargain.

You can filter out things which are out of stock.

I wish you could filter out things which are ‘Delivery from store’ only.

I agree it’s so annoying. I’m not going to pay an extra delivery fee because one thing I want, out of much larger order is only available from a store.

I end up not buying any of it from JL and ordering the whole lot from somewhere else where I get it all delivered with no charges.

Yes, it seems to be happening more as well

Not pointless because it's right, you can go somewhere else if you don't like it.
