That’s made me so happy.

I hope this is a real reflection. I would prefer Labour to win by a comfortable enough margin that even restore potentially splitting the vote can't be blamed. Eg reform and restore together get less votes than Burnham. The same way that in Gorton and Denton tactical voting didn't actually stop reform because the vote share Labour and the Greens had together meant people choosing differently between the two couldn't have actually given Reform a win.

Decisive is good!

It's hard to avoid the conclusion that Farage has written this off.He certainly isn't investing his precious time in it.

Probably too busy desperately trying to prevent flags being flown near his several posh homes. Will no one think of the house prices ?

He has been rebuked by the unions as well, poor sod, not having a good time.

While it would be satisfying for the combined reform/restore vote to equal the Labour vote, a firm Labour win would send out a much clearer message.

I agree, and it would give Burnham a genuine mandate if he does, as now expected, end up becoming PM.

Llttledrummergirl · 09/06/2026 18:19

A school friend of mine has posted about her daughter being attacked yesterday and having her hajab pulled off. Apparently passers by did nothing.

While I'm furious with the thug that did this, I also think those that did nothing to help should be ashamed of themselves.

What kind of a country are we, when people turn a blind eye to assault. Shades of nazis cutting the beards off jewush men. It's fucking disgusting and I hope the police come down hard on them.

I look forward to the "patriots abd saviours of women and children" protesting outside the home of this thug.

And risk a knife ?

Nothing will give Burnham a mandate for that. He’s a child wanting the nice toy because someone else has it. He’s let others do the hard work and now wants to rush in and ‘save’ them. I’ve no time for him or his ego I’m afraid.

TemperanceWest · 09/06/2026 18:46

I feel the same @cardibach

@Llttledrummergirl that is horrible. Disgusting man. I hope the police take action.

BIossomtoes · 09/06/2026 18:58

I’m reserving judgement. Burnham undoubtedly has his work cut out for him and will be scrutinised just as closely but my disappointment in Starmer right from the early days of this government is huge. I really don’t want to watch another three years of this unfold and culminate in the election of the worst government I could possibly imagine.

derxa · 09/06/2026 19:40

Not much sympathy for the poor stabbed man on here.

Quite a few of us are posting on the appropriate threads. It’s quite nice to have a bit of respite on this one.

Oh stop it Derxa. It is not seemly to use this horrific incident to try to bait us.

DuncinToffee · 09/06/2026 19:51

I think the sympathy is granted

And you think all of us on here have given no thought to the poor man? Can you read minds?

You haven't posted anything about him. Until now.

Edited for clarity.

Are you berating us? We have had that before and it is pathetic.

I’m trying to understand your mindset.

Which is what? That everyone is horrified at what happened. That everyone is worried about what the people of Belfast may have to endure tonight?

That mindset?

I am not engaging anymore. It is beyond disgusting for any poster to use this hideous attempted murder in this way and if I say much more I will get a deletion.

BIossomtoes · 09/06/2026 20:02

My mindset is that it was an appalling event, the N Ireland government has responded, the perpetrator is in jail and the victim is in hospital. What more is there to be said? If you want full blown outrage there are at least two other threads to satisfy your need. Fill your boots on them.

PickAChew · 09/06/2026 20:02

Yet again, you came here purely to wag your finger at us. Do you enjoy the attention?

pointythings · 09/06/2026 20:05

I'm not posting about what happened in Belfast because it's an ongoing police investigation and a load of social media speculation is the last thing the police over there need.

There’s a lot more to be said. Many questions to be answered. This shouldn’t be brushed under the carpet. All of you on here are good people. I just don’t understand.

DuncinToffee · 09/06/2026 20:08

There is enough misinformation being spread. no need for more speculation. Let the police do their job.
