I think they are trying to make Fabians a thing IYSWIM (I know the Fabian society is real, but I think they want it to be the next big insult).

It's keeps popping up on social media but never in real life. What usually happens is that bots will start referencing a phrase/an idea and if it gets a foothold (ie it turns out that it fits with a genuine grievance some people have) double down. I don't think it's possible to use social media etc to make new grievances/divisions. The trick is to test and test till you find a crack then expand that crack. And it's now possible to do that quickly at scale.

I don't think everyone that I disagree with online is a bot. But there are patterns that are quite recognisable (like those comments about finances that are always pushing ac--- scammer) and there are a lot of bots of Facebook and twitter. No idea if your guy was genuine or not. But it doesn't feel as successful to me as two tier Kier or the New World Order stuff.

Yes, I have seen the Fabian thing on MN too. I think someone tried to start a thread a while back, but it was ridiculed. There was also a particular poster who was rather obsessed about it. But as you say, it hasn't gained traction as firmly as other conspiracy theories.

the UUP leader said this was the worst violence he had ever known on in NI .

Now that is someone who can be called fucking stupid. And evil.

So Bloody Sunday ? Enniskillen ? The several massacres of British soldiers ? And of course the relentless list of murdered innocents that totalled over 3,000 in 25 years ?

But, no,, this is the "worst violence" some no mark drooling idiot "has ever known"

Do fuck off.

Ah yes but were the assailants white?
Did it come just before a by election? Or when Farage wanted to distract from pocketing £5 million?

Piggywaspushed · 09/06/2026 14:57

I feel bad now (not really) because I paraphrased him . But it does seem a reach, dreadful as this is , in a place with the context of NI.

Yes, I presume so.
Just before some local elections actaully!
No!

It seems incredible, given the horrors of what happened - particularly in the context of the British occupation and oppression that it wasn't challenged within microseconds of being published.

If you want a laugh, look up the few rare clips of Nigel Farage being told he is a cunt* in no uncertain terms by an Irish press that do not softball him. Weirdly he doesn't get a pass when he starts lecturing the Irish on their history.

*(I paraphrase, but can read faces).

There was a brief discussion a while back about how there are tells that MN is very much not reflective of ... well what is talked about in coffee shops.

Here's todays example

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp8rl45jmv7o

David Stroud, 44, after pleading guilty to harassing a woman on a train because of her sex. He is wearing a blue zip-up top, glasses, jeans and is holding a letter in one hand and a phone to his ear with the other.

Man who grabbed woman's hair and asked for kiss sentenced in legal first

David Stroud was convicted in a first-of-its-kind sex-based harassment prosecution in May.

Probably that call for protests across the U.K. is so much garbage - however pulling doc marts on in case - we have an emergency counter protest set up - love not hate for my City of Sanctuary.

DuncinToffee · 09/06/2026 16:48

That headline annoys me, 'grabbed hair and asked for kiss' Angry

It's assault. Plain and simple. No new law needed for that (as per ...).

However you will find that is the first posting on MN - while FWR who you would have thought may have had a view on it. (If not it's probably the only thing they haven't). Are silent.

But then, as my friend has literally just posted to me "Yes, Jane, but it's not really a story that men will read ...." 🤔

It's hard to avoid the conclusion that Farage has written this off.He certainly isn't investing his precious time in it.

Probably too busy desperately trying to prevent flags being flown near his several posh homes. Will no one think of the house prices ?

Efacsen · 09/06/2026 17:16

Well that's good news
