Funnily enough, there seem to be plenty of the remaining Brexiteers who think that we should adopt all things US...

Why do they hate Britain ?

Because Britain is full of woke and DEI 'nonsense' and - gasps in horror - women drivers. That's sarcasm for the hard of intelligence.

If you listen to a history of the US from 1939 and replace "red scare" with "woke" it still makes 100% sense.

Another maga who can fuck off

Hegseth at Normandy:

"Sadly, today, different European beaches are stormed by different dangerous ideologies. Beaches in Spain and Italy and Greece and Bulgaria. Boats and men arrive. When will European capitals do something about that invasion? Or is it too late? I pray not, and I believe not."

I also saw a reminder that it was 2 years ago that Sunak left the commemorations early to do a tv interview

Just watched HIGNFY with DH. He said he wasn't sure he could bear Gove. I said don't be daft, he'll be ribbed mercilessly. Didn't disappoint. Paul looked very much like he'd drawn the short straw, though.

I watched this too and was horrified at the thought of seeing and hearing Gove again. However it turned out to be worth watching. He looked very weak and insignificant, which he is. Ian Hislop had a great time laying into him and I'm sure he would have loved to go further. I did comment to my husband that Paul Merton was unusually quiet. I'm afraid I felt no sympathy for Gove at all.

Notonthestairs · 06/06/2026 16:13

I watched that Spicer video earlier.

Bang on including the final sentence.
We mustn't take our feminine feelings out on the men or the police.

Saucery · 06/06/2026 18:36

I’m not a fan of Gove by any means but I think he was ok on HIGNFY. He knew what he was signing up for, he can’t be a stranger to what people think of him and Private Eye have said much worse than anything Ian Hislop is allowed to say on HIGNFY. Gove has earned money and exposure from appearing - more fool the BBC for giving it him. Merton always acts like a sulky child when they put him with someone he doesn’t like, bit pathetic really.

I agree with you. I've no time for Gove and he destroyed the public education system to the detriment of many young people now in their 20s. He knew exactly what he was doing. Can't stand the man and he'll never garner sympathy from me.

I can remember when Gove was the edgy young Turk of the Tories - appearing on edgy shows with David Baddiel

Phew - managed to avoid any MasterChef spoilers! Have just caught up now and very happy with the result. (Although I think it was very hard to choose between them all, tbh).

A billionaire’s pocket politician.

Open to anyone with a big enough wallet.

Or just £80 which apparently was what he was paid for saying “Up the IRA”.

Piggywaspushed · 07/06/2026 10:31

Not that it makes it better but I have heard this recently. It was repeated on QT. Farage said 'Up the Ra'. Despite, or even perhaps because of ,his elite education , I do find it plausible that he didn't know what it meant. He seems entirely the type to do something for money without asking.

It's a cultural thing. Even garnering a reference on yesterdays "News Quiz"

Let's hope the Trump doesn't hear it. One panellist suggested that if only dead people are allowed on US currencies, that would be a price they would pay for having Trump on the $250 bill - to a round of thunderous applause ....

Frigging hell, MN is becoming rife with far-right propaganda. I hope it stops after June 18th.

One can only presume that the left wing element are at work and hasn't got time to post on MN.

Aren't the retired ones too busy having lots of sex, or something?
