Glad - or Galadriel - to see it. The fucking cheek of the man. The US is in no position to lecture other nations about policing.

Notonthestairs · 05/06/2026 21:52

Heaven forbid Vance pays attention to Henry Nowak’s parents.

Watched the LoR films with DH whilst we were dating. It was a sign of my devotion. All I remember is the interminable battle scenes.

Notably open rebuke to JD Vance from Downing Street tonight.

Merica can feck off to the far side of feck and then feck off some more.

Love the result of MasterChef tonight.

Piggywaspushed · 05/06/2026 22:29

No spoilers please! Not watched yet!!

PickAChew · 05/06/2026 22:50

Just watched HIGNFY with DH. He said he wasn't sure he could bear Gove. I said don't be daft, he'll be ribbed mercilessly. Didn't disappoint. Paul looked very much like he'd drawn the short straw, though.

I don't do spoilers. Except to say that I would have loved every one of the last three to win.

Watched it last night - words I never thought I'd say but I felt quite sorry for Gove. It was brutal.

They say you are judged by the company you keep, cabal of cunts would be quite apt.

Love that - and stealing it with pride 🤣🤣

LizzieW1969 · 05/06/2026 21:09

I’ve never read the books, but I really enjoyed watching the films at the cinema. I remember watching ‘The Two Towers’ with my now DH, one of the first few films we went to see together. 😀

I loved the Hobbit as a kid but never mastered LOTR - but half forced into watching it is/ on and not my choice - I found I really enjoyed it. I meant to try reading it again but maybe my life is now too short haha.

Good statement- though Vance will assume he is in the right.

Still find it odd we rejected any/all interference from the EU but we grovel at the feet of the US ‘cabal of cunts’ - I just don’t know who looks over and thinks, ‘Yeah we want some of that’ - sigh.

Yes, any one of them would have worked for me. Isn’t it a joy to watch now Wallace and Torode have gone?

Totally agree that it's overwhelmingly more joyous to watch and more palatable too!

DuncinToffee · 06/06/2026 10:07

Gove mentioning Farage's cold rage, not hot rage comment explained the conversation I was having with a former Johnson defender on a different thread.

I haven't watched Masterchef for ages, galadriel to hear it is enjoyable to watch again.

I must say it is...interesting to see how some of the Johnson/Tory supporters are now Farage supporters. Some are even now sharing (and praising) posts written by Robinson acolytes.

BIossomtoes · 06/06/2026 11:35

It’s a very real indication of how far to the right the Overton window has moved. Johnson has so much to answer for, this all began when he ousted all the decent Tories from the party.

cardibach · 06/06/2026 11:40

And even more scarily they think that the Overton window has moved left - I’ve had this argument more than once online. They say everyone else has moved left, they haven’t moved right. They just can’t see it.

I know. It’s pointless arguing with anyone who makes that assertion.

I just watched it and agree with you. He seems to be a shadow of his former bastard-like self. He actually seemed not particularly well and rather vulnerable.

Maybe I am getting soft in my dotage.

cardibach · 06/06/2026 12:28

I’ll give it a watch shortly. It’s lucky I’m not a Christian because the way I think about Gove is extremely un-Christian. I doubt I’ll feel any sympathy. The man ruined education in England - and, by extension, Wales because we had to match GCSE specifications. He’s the reason for the teacher recruitment and retention problems and for the disaffection of many school students.

He's lost a lot of weight since that dancing video. Hopefully just down to the removal of the stress of being in parliament. Many of the things he's said and done need to haunt him but I wouldn't wish ill health on him. I'm more of a believer in natural consequences.

Sky's Cathy Newman on the online abuse she's had since discussing the Henry Nowak case

Since interviewing Reform UK's Zia Yusuf over the death of Henry Nowak Sky News presenter Cathy Newman has had death threats and misogynistic abuse.

@BIossomtoes my ignorance knows no bounds confess I’ve never read Lord of The Rings or seen the films I’m a lost cause.

It's a cultural thing. Even garnering a reference on yesterdays "News Quiz"

Let's hope the Trump doesn't hear it. One panellist suggested that if only dead people are allowed on US currencies, that would be a price they would pay for having Trump on the $250 bill - to a round of thunderous applause ....

Funnily enough, there seem to be plenty of the remaining Brexiteers who think that we should adopt all things US...
