Keeping cool today - tips & hints thread

I'm currently sitting in our living room with a fan on, and my feet up to the ankles in a washing-up bowl of cold water. Bliss.

We are also putting ice cubes in the cats' water bowl.

Any other ideas you can share for keeping cool today?

Wear a wet top or drape wet teatowel on back of neck.

fill a plastic spray bottle,( like a hairdresser uses to dampen hair) with water, put it on a fine mist setting and spritz yourself every now and then. Dog loves it too!

I've just been out to the garden to slosh a bit of water about on the patio to keep the air humidity up around the containers and pots, and watered my own feet and legs while I was at it! The pots themselves didn't need watering again, I already did them once this morning.

If you have one of those gel ice packs for injuries in the freezer, used that to cool you down. Very nice n the back of the neck.

If it’s cooler outside than in, fan in the window pointing out, on the hot side. Window open on the shadier side. Draws cooler air in.

I'm just thinking about all those people on the property and gardening threads who are adamant about having a south-facing garden, and hate their neighbour's tree that casts shade into their garden.

Whoops. 😂

We have a spray bottle that also has a fan on it which is amazing - we got it in Florida but I assume Amazon would sell them!

We do similar when the temperature drops in the evenings. Open bedroom window, put fan on the landing facing into the bedroom, and open all the doors downstairs.

I’m using my neck fan which helps a lot

I've tied ice packs to the backs of my knees using tea towels. I look absolutely ridiculous but no fucks are given
