I had a small cyst appear on my head, I was really worried about it and i have been advised by GP that maybe I should have it removed?

Can anyone advise if this has happened to them and where I can go?

thanks in advance

I’ve recently had a pilar cyst removed, privately as GP said Nhs wouldn’t . Places near me were charging £500-700 covering initial consult, removal and followup/stiches out. Was another £100+ if labs needed. They said more £ if on face/tricky/large.

Adult DS had to have one removed from the back of his head. I think it was about £900, Unfortunately his GP wasn't interested so it appears to be a bit of a lottery.

I used to help in the minor surgery clinics as part of a GP led dermatology service. It’s a really simple operation and once they’ve removed the cyst and sac, it shouldn’t come back. The GPs i worked for took great pride in getting the whole thing out in tact!

Ifit gets infected and bursts, then refills, it can become more difficult to deal with, so well worth sorting out if you can.

Emphasise how much it is bothering you/catches on hair clips etc - really lay it on thick if necessary. Ask your GP if there is a community dermatology service in your area.

I’ve had it done a couple of times - last time it was during my dinner break and I just returned to work - it’s so quick and easy.

My husband went to a clinic in the city called Cosmedics where they removed his forehead cyst. He was in and out in no time. We did a lot of research into the clinic before booking.
