Am I boring?

As the title says. In recent weeks when I’m with friends, I’ve started to tell an anecdote, relevant to the conversation, and after a couple of sentences there’s been a distraction, and after a few minutes, nobody has remembered that I was saying something. I’ve even tried going back to it, snd been talked over or ignored.
What am I doing wrong?
(for context, this is a performing arts group, and nobody is shy snd retiring)

No but maybe not assertive enough? Often I’m think. Oh I must mention X but the conversation goes on a tangent and I never end up making my point, but that’s the way conversation go. But if you are being talked over you’ll have to learn how to get the attention back which can be tricky I know. What are the others doing? Are any of them able to keep the focus on themselves and what they are saying? Observe how they are doing it.
