Are we supposed to be happy for you?

ourSusie · 25/05/2026 23:52

abandon good sense, all ye who enter here …

BravebutBroken · 25/05/2026 23:53

Are you claiming it legitimately yet have no additional expenses due to your disability that you can be spending it on?? If so I'm rather intrigued and also a little impressed that you have some kind of disability that has a significant impact on your life, but doesn't cost you financially.

If you're claiming it fraudulently then Thank You so much (NOT) for making my already difficult life an awful lot more difficult by abusing the system that is supposed to support me and so many others. We all really appreciate the fact that people like you make the claims process so much more challenging for us. We generally have such an abundance of spare energy to enable us to navigate the system that is meant to weed out those people who abuse it, and instead disadvantages those who actually need it.

Maybe, but these threads can get entertainingly juicy!

My confession is that I prefer instant coffee to “real”!

PIP is not means tested. So people may be quite wealthy and still qualify which i find strange.

SlB09 · 26/05/2026 00:32

That I hate where I live and want to move back near hometown, feeling like the life I'm living isn't 'me' and I've fallen into the trap of job marriage kids bigger house instead of feeding my soul and remaining a country/farming girl.

Phew 😅

Thelandtrees · 26/05/2026 00:33

@Greenfingers37 and @BravebutBroken

Thelandtrees: I think this is exactly what it is supposed to be for, isn't it?

PIP is not means tested. So people may be quite wealthy and still qualify which i find strange.

But why shouldn't they get it? It's purely based on levelling up. Why should somebody who is already decently comfortable but able-bodied be morally allowed to be richer than somebody who is equally decently comfortable who has to spend a lot of their money on absolute essentials to live their life that most people don't have to remotely consider for a second, much less want or need?

You might as well say that people who do a NMW job but who already have a nice amount of savings shouldn't be entitled to receive NMW, and should be paid much less, "because they don't need it".

Also, disabled people with savings or a reasonable income may well already be routinely spending a sizeable chunk of it on disability-related needs - so they don't necessarily need to spend any PIP on those items and costs; but rather the receipt of it will act as 'levelling up' reimbursement to stop them being effectively financially penalised for being disabled and keep having to spend their own money.

Are we supposed to be happy for you?

Is it the heat making you so cranky?

EstoyRobandoSuCasa · 26/05/2026 01:07

I have never told anyone that I had bulimia for a few months last year. It wasn't a compulsion as such and I didn't enjoy it. But after binging on chocolate and/or crisps I would make myself vomit to avoid putting on weight. I kept meaning to stop as I knew it was very bad for me. Then one day, I read that even if you vomit as soon as you've eaten, your body still absorbs 50-75% of the calories in the food. I've never done it since.

Hello19834 · 27/05/2026 01:07

I've got a huge crush on a married man.
I don't know what it is about him as he's not my type but there is a certain something! I am absolutely not going to act on it.

Crushed23 · 27/05/2026 02:50

This is a really random one.

I bought a ticket to a festival in the UK knowing I was going to be there at some point this summer but dates were not confirmed. I would just sell the ticket if my visit didn’t coincide with the festival. No problem.

Anyway, things worked out and I am going to be in the UK when the festival is on and so I’m going to go.

But I am pretending that the festival is an afterthought and an ‘oh, that could be fun to catch’ scenario. Not that I bought an expensive VIP ticket 11 months ago…

I have NO IDEA why it’s a secret 😅 if someone asked me straight “did you buy the festival ticket then book your trip?”, I would tell the truth, but I’m not going to be forthcoming about it, IYSWIM.

3luckystars · 27/05/2026 03:19

I don’t like cats and actually don’t even like people that like cats.

shellyleppard · 27/05/2026 04:32
