Where to grab a sandwich near the London Eye

Taking 4yo DD into London this week to go on the Eye and then to the fairytales exhibition at the British Library (all booked pre-heatwave!). We're booked onto the Eye at 10 (fasttrack ticket), so thought we'd do that then pick up a sandwich/sausage roll type lunch and have a picnic in jubilee gardens before heading over to the British Library for 1:30.
Despite working just the other side of Westminster Bridge it's been ages since going that way - are there any sandwich/takeaway places nearby? I could pick something up on our way from Waterloo to the Eye. Are the jubilee gardens shady?

There's a M&S food inside Waterloo Station, and a Pret a Manger on the lower level in front of the Festival Hall.

Yes Waterloo Station. Your other option is pop into
Festival Hall or National Theatre.

I was going to suggest the Waterloo M&S! It’d certainly be my choice.

Waterloo M&S does sound tempting- but can you take food on the eye? The website says water only?

There’s also a sainsburys on the Waterloo Road and a Greggs just inside the station.

There’s a Pret nearby too with out side table s

On the road behind the London eye there is a subway and a Starbucks (Belvedere road)

There's an M&S food hall on York Road, which is only a couple of minutes walk from the Eye.

Southbank Centre food market is absolutely amazing and open Friday-Sunday if that is when you are going. There are multiple stalls doing wraps and sandwiches, all vastly better than anything M+S or Pret offer.

I hear road men grab a sandwich from Gregg's.

Yes I second this one - much better than the one in the station IMO (tends to have lots of new in, tasty lunch bits they’re trialling, as well as well-stocked of ALL their normal selections, and kids sandwiches!)

There’s also a Gails on the way round to the London Eye from there, which is great to integrate a coffee/sausage roll if needed!
