That Friday feeling

My DH & I are self employed. As long as I can remember Friday & Saturday evening's have involved either going out or cooking a meal & popping open a bottle of wine. The older I'm getting the more I'm realising even this amount affects me the next day & worse interrupts my sleep through the week. MY DH is on the same page. We decided a few weeks ago to give up this habit & only have a few on special occasions & it feels great. The best feeling is falling asleep easily & not waking up every 2 hours.

This aside. My question is to those of you on the same path. How do you celebrate the anticipation & excitement of that Friday feeling without involving a few drinks over the weekend. I actually don't miss it but there was definitely something about the naughtiness of popping the cork after work on a Friday & thinking no work until Monday. We still have a couple of drinks on a rare night out or a celebration or on holiday but the Friday night at home habit is gone for good.

Takeaway, walk, watching TV to relax.

Sounds lovely. I normally cook to relax but a takeaway does sound inviting 😁

We hardly ever drink but usually have something more “treaty” on a Friday or Saturday. Or sometimes a takeaway or eat out. We also usually have chocolate, sweets or pudding on Saturday and save something good we’ve seen on tv for the weekend. There’s also extra time for sex 😉

Fridays have been different for me and without alcohol for many years, as with family abroad, it is the only time we are all available to speak to each other (thanks to modern tech). Indeed I decline some invitations for Fridays as a result.
