Can I ask what you’d do in this situation please? Fell over whilst taking DS out locally on his scooter. Got a cut on my palm which had a created a flap of skin. I cut the flap off as it looked dirty and to access a spec that is sort of trapped at the edge of the wound. I can’t get the spec out and was going to try again later and google has frightened me by saying it’s a huge infection risk that I cut the skin off and to seek medical attention today. I washed my hand and wiped both the tweezers and the wound with a sterile saline wipe. I’ve now got a plaster on and unsure if medical attention is overkill. The wound is less than half the size of my little finger nail. It won’t let me post the pic but I’ll try again

Just keep it clean and dry and you will be fine.

If it’s any consolation, DD’s boyfriend fell over while running (they are both adults) and took a massive chunk out of his palm. He went to minor injuries as he thought he had broken his ankle and they washed the hand wound and packed it with this hydrocolloid plaster so I would recommend getting a pack of them. A few weeks later and it was right as rain and it was a giant gash!

hydrocolloid is the way to go!

If you can’t get a hydrocolloid plaster I’d just get gauze and tape and put that over it.

Thanks all when DH came home I ran it under warm water for several mins and with the softened skin managed to get the dirt out. I’ve got a plaster on but I’ve got some drier dressings so will put one of those on later overnight once I’ve had a shower. Thank you all
