Does anyone know anything about Girard-Perregaux watches (from the 1960s)?

Long shot - but I have inherited my great-grandmother's Girard-Perregaux watch, which I think is from the 1960s. I am interested in finding out more about it and hopefully recommissioning. I did reach out to the watchmaker, but they want to charge me £800 just to check it is authentic! I have already had it authenticated for insurance. Does anyone know about these watches?

Who did you have it “authenticated” by?

A jeweller- and given I know it’s provenance (bought, new, by my great grandfather) I’m happy with that

If you ate interested in finding out more - what’s stopping you without the watchmaker’s confirmation? Given you’re 100% sure it authentic?

If it has a complication or two, I’d take it to a Sotheby’s et al and someone there will know a shedload!

Ah, they have a boutique in Covent Garden - take it there and ask. Patek have actual horologists in their basement “lab” in their London store who can tell you all sorts about a PP, so maybe GP will be the same

Failing that, go to Wempe and ask
