Mine got heavily into Horrid Henry at this age but I'm not sure I can bring myself to "recommend" them exactly.

DD liked The Enchanted Palace books and The Rescue Princesses.

The Usborne Young readers series 3 is also good, we had several from the library (they are quite expensive) and some of the more factual ones ended up DD reading factual books about the topic.

Mine loved the Mrs Pepperpot Books. Also any Enid Blytons!
