What do we think, Omazers? This one is much more to my taste than the usual glass boxy ones. I don't know how remote it is, but if it's walking distance to s centre of some sort I would happily live there. It's a long way from home though, so maybe I'd have a year or so then sell it, move home and give the money to my adult children.

How do these lottery companies like omaze make money, I mean what if not enough people buy tickets?...or am I being naive?

MrsPositivity1 · 23/05/2026 00:09

@ForQuirkyFawnI wonder this also

This is pretty close to me but I’d still sell it if I won… too much money to upkeep.

Nice to daydream though!

You could easily holiday let the living room side it has it's own staircase and a large double bedroom with ensuite, the laundry room can be converted to a kitchen and still plenty of space left to live very comfortably for years to come.

And there's £250k to add to the prize, which would keep things ticking over for a while. Also whatever you are paying for housing now can be discounted (or if you've paid off your mortgage you can sell up and add the proceeds to the £250k). There are all sorts of possibilities - rent stable space to horse owners, for instance.

It’s lovely and not too far from me. Please can I win it

EnthusiasticPony · 25/05/2026 16:45

Never won anything, they used to send the odd voucher so you didnt feel you were being fleeced but not any more.

OccasionalHope · 25/05/2026 16:54

Gorgeous, just the sort of house I would love if I had millions :)

thepragmatic · 28/05/2026 09:24

This house was made for me and I truly hope I win it!

TurquoiseDress · 28/05/2026 09:25

I’m going to take a look…

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 28/05/2026 11:36

for me this isn’t a location I’d want to live so it’d be a “straight to the estate agents” win.

as an aside, I never understand the picking about the houses, if you won, you can just sell up and if you knocked a million of Omaze’s claimed value someone would buy it, and you’d still have a lottery win amount in your bank account. (Plus as you get all the contents, you have the option to upgrade your crockery with theirs)

The house and grounds are amazing, but it's ruined by the proximity to the A3. Maybe the previous owners have taken measures to reduce the noise, but I'd worry about my boys getting tempted into playing near the road. The pool doesn't look like it could be easily fenced off for safety.

The new mansion tax (£5,000) would also be a problem. I expect it would be a very expensive house to maintain - council tax (£4,160), gardening (£5,000?), heating (£3,000?), pool (£5,000?), etc. It would be like having a large perpetual mortgage that rises faster than inflation every year.

Is it the same house? The article mentions a different village.

No. The Mail story is about a house on Broadford Bridge Road in West Chiltington, West Sussex.

The Omaze house is St Mary's, in Shackleford, near Godalming, Surrey.

Thank you!

Totally different part of the UK. West Sussex is different to Surrey.

That’s good to know …. Saw that on another site about the house.
