Can I pause eBay listings and take BACS at a car boot?

Hi. Two questions please.

  1. I have some stuff for sale in my ebay shop, mainly specialist hobby clothes. There is a car boot sale for this particular specialism which I'm attending at the weekend and some of the items in my ebay shop will also be for sale at the car boot sale.

Rather than mess on my ebay account and 'end item' if i sell it, is there anyway to pause and unpause items please? I know it would be unlikely that a product is sold twice but you never know!

  1. If you sell at car boots do you offer payment by BACS as well as cash? This afternoon I've been to the location which is in a field and sent £1 from my Natwest account to my Barclays account, it took about 20 seconds to go through so I know the wifi signal is excellent. Just thought it's a good option, people tend to buy more when they can't see the actual money go out of their purse/wallet. TIA.

You can buy small portable card readers, like 'sumup'

I have seen someone taking BACS at a tabletop sale.

You can also take PayPal payments, you can generate and print out a QR code for buyers to scan.

Yes but that's quite costly to run I believe and I will probably only do a couple of boots sales.

Any idea how you for that please? I'm quite pleased with myself that I've been able to navigate ebay selling but PayPal scares me a bit lol

PayPal is about as secure as you can get, so you needn't be scared of it.

Once you have an account set up you can operate it via an app or the website. There is a QR icon, on the app you just tap on it and then people can either scan it from your phone screen directly, or you can print it out.

I live in the countryside and a lot of people who sell eggs and plants by the road use this system, they have a laminated code taped to the stall. Partly because people don't carry cash any more and partly because people are less honest.
