I do follow my local club (to where I was born) through thick and thin and have done for over 50 years. I also know plenty of south London Arsenal fans who are following their family tradition from when Arsenal played there. I’m really not sure why you feel the need to keep going on about it as if Arsenal have never had local fans.

Spot on.

Arsenal have been a massive club since the 1930s and have always had fans all over the world. Seeing as we haven’t won the league for 22 years, you can hardly call our fans glory grabbers.

Exactly.

Huge relief here. DS is a fervent Gunners fan

Palace have suspended ticket sharing for the match on Saturday. I'm an Arsenal fan. DH and DS are Palace. DS can't go to the match on Sunday cos he's at a wedding abroad. I thought I'd be able to go on his ticket (have done so before), but no. GUTTED.

Yep, not sure I’d pass as his 19 year old son…
worth a try. DS says we should watch the match near Highbury….
As for location. My dad was an Arsenal fan, we live in SE London. Can walk to the Bromley ground so we do go there too. We’ve been to many Arsenal matches. My DS has never been alive to see them win the league. He’s stuck with them. Each year as Ted Lasso round say ‘it’s the hope that kills you’ I’m glad he can finally celebrate!

Oh thanks @DialSquare 🥰

I'm gonna go - we'll go early, take the buggy and just try to camp somewhere. I'll take snacks, drinks, blankets and tablet

I've got to take her, whatever happens

We went today to the stadium! Such a lovely atmosphere, everyone beeping at people in arsenal shirts!!

Although many teams love the excitement of the champions League beacuse it's considered prestigious in Europe, I think to the players the premier League means more to them bescuse it's a long season 38 games and some players would have played in every game, it's nice to see someone different winning for a change, im a Chelsea fan (for my sins have been since I was 7 years old I've seen the highs and lows more lows after the Abramovich era, but a huge congratulations to Arsenal very well deserved.

Thank you for explaining x

The excitement today was just in the air! Proper community feel 😍

Previous parades have seen crowds of over 250,000 people. Navigating that with a buggy will be a nightmare honestly. And I doubt it'll be the walking - it'll be the standing/waiting fpr the bus to go past. My partner & I have been Arsenal fans our whole lives and even we're not even contemplating going - it's just going to be a nightmare.

Its gonna be stressful I know 😪 - I've got to try though

My husband has supported Arsenal for 70 years we no longer live locally and this season he’s been unable to get a ticket in the ballot. He’s not well and this result is the best tonic imaginable for him.

redange · Yesterday 13:42

Arsenal fans are the very worst ! They make Man Utd fans look humble. The Prime Minister today was 'Pathetic' like Arsenal winning a poor League this year was the biggest and most important thing in the country. Totally un-newsworthy Sporting success should only be mentioned if if involves GB or any of the 4 Nations Not 'Diddy' Arsenal winning one Premiership in 22 years. Explain how they are going to stop PSG when Arsenal can only muster up about three shots a game if lucky..

I even went to the parade in Islington last time they won - I don’t even like football THAT much but it was just down the road and it’s nice to see everyone so excited 😀

It goes past the end of my road - what to do as a Spurs fan 😬
Was awful last night watching Tottenham losing on TV whilst hearing shouting, horns beeping and fireworks 🤣 I’m blaming Ian Wright.
(ps the obvious answer is to stay in but let my Arsenal-supporting friends pop in for a cup of tea and use the loo!)

Oh please, they are part of the Sky 6 and been involved in the upper echelons of the table for decades. Poor you's having not won a title for 20+ years. So entitled.

Of course the majority of their fans are plastic glory hunters. Their 'fans' filming themselves in the ground, half & half scarves, traditional London accents replaced by Home Counties middle class Received Pronunciation. Arsenal are the latest “trendy” London activity. International fans with less than zero connection to the club, or indeed to north London, saying stuff like “London is red”.

I live in SE London. Arsenal fans are all over our catchment area. This title will pull even more fans into their fold. Young supporters who should be following Palace, Charlton, Millwall, Wimbledon or Bromley. Clubs that they can be part of and involved in their community. Clubs that they can get tickets and attend games regularly. Clubs that will celebrate a draw harder than these blow-ins with their shiny arsenal shirts, nursing a cordial in the pub for 90 minutes and singing 'north london forever' without a hint of irony.

Arsenal fans in your catchment area?

Wouldn't happen to have anything to do with Arsenal originally being from the Woolwich area maybe, and their fathers, fathers, fathers supporting them in SE London and passing the baton to their sons/daughters even after moving to North London...

I admire those that support Millwall, Charlton etc., but sometimes when it's in the family, tradition lives on!

Islington lad, born and bred, although I live in the suburbs now. I've had a season ticket for over 50 years, ever since I got too big for my Mum and Dad to sneak me in under the turnstile in the old East Stand to sit on their laps!

I'm more happy for my Son, who was only 2 when we last won it and obviously doesn't remember it! Seeing his face last night makes it all make sense!

I went to Paris for our last Champions League final without a ticket (we had one between four of us!). Not going this time, but here's hoping!

Ooh to, Ooh to be, Ooh to be a Gooner! 😃

I would say all the London clubs have local fans - it’s just the way it is. In fact all clubs really. I’ve been a season ticket holder of mine since the 90s and my dad regularly went from the 60s onwards!

Gutted Man city fan here but congratulations to Arsenal fans. The best team won.

Thank you!

The league title is the one competition that the best team over the whole season deserves!

You can get lucky cup draws etc., but the league table doesn't lie!

I would happily take the Champions League though! 😂

Yep, we booked flights and hotel before the semi final v Villareal so we got a good deal.
We only had the one ticket between us, so we drew lots. Three of us watched it in this huge converted cinema/bar a couple of doors from the Moulin Rouge!

Get a grip. 99% of them don’t support Arsenal because they played in Woolwich for a few years in the 1890s, it’s because they glory hunted them in the 90s and 2000s.

You’re acting like generations of SE London families sat around preserving ancient Woolwich Arsenal heritage for a century. Reality is most of the explosion in Arsenal fans came during the Graham/Wenger eras when they were winning titles and dominating TV coverage. Same reason Manure exploded nationally in the 90s. Success attracts plastics.

And that’s fine, every massive club has them. But don’t pretend little Archie from Bromley with an Arsenal duvet, who’s been to the Emirates once for a pre season friendly and calls Millwall or Charlton fans “common”, is carrying on some sacred South London football lineage from 1893.

Supporting your local side when they’re struggling, when tickets are easy to get but trophies aren’t, is what being a proper fan is about. Following one of the richest, most marketed clubs on earth because they’re successful and fashionable is a completely different thing.

Let’s be honest, watching a load of lifelong South London and Surrey residents suddenly losing their heads over an Arsenal title despite barely, if ever going to games and having no connection to North London whatsoever is complete cringe. It’s football fandom as a fashion accessory rather than actually supporting a club.

I went to the final in Paris. We also took a gamble and booked Eurostar tickets before the semi final. Didn’t book a hotel though so had to sit outside the station until it opened in the morning. Disappointing result but I did get to sit next to Ainsley Harriet in the ground!

My partner is going next week. Has cost him an absolute fortune.

My son booked a flight to Bratislava and coach to Budapest return in the hope of getting a ticket, but only got standby in the ballot. He sold them over the weekend. £400 for the flights and £60 for the return coach.

It’s a lot isn’t it. My partner has return flights direct but it has cost over £900. Just for the flights.
