Some fucker was letting off fireworks an hour ago

Please tell me you at least live near the stadium 😄😄

Edit, seen that you have - that at least is understandable 😄

Now just asked Dd boyfriend’s dad if he has any spare tickets on Sunday.. he’s a cp season ticket holder….

Tollington · 19/05/2026 23:50

I’ve seen a video from outside the stadium, looks wild. This has been a very long time coming!

@mumofoneAloneandwell I would think very very very carefully about going to the parade. It's going to be incredibly busy and if you want your DD to see anything you'll need to get there early which will mean a lot of standing around.

I'm absolutely not saying don't go, but as you've said you're a novice with all this then I'd really do some research and talk to other people before you decide to go.

I'm literally on tiktok watching a live stream and thinking the same!

I've got to try, but i think i'm gonna take the car, park as close as I can and then i'm debating taking the buggy

Dd is autistic at 7 - she will be fine with the noise, its just endless walking that she wont cope with

I've got to get a plan together i think - i might pop down there tomorrow and see if I can speak to one of the shop keepers xx

She can't miss this though - even if we just spend a bit of time soaking up the atmosphere

Previous parades have seen crowds of over 250,000 people. Navigating that with a buggy will be a nightmare honestly. And I doubt it'll be the walking - it'll be the standing/waiting fpr the bus to go past. My partner & I have been Arsenal fans our whole lives and even we're not even contemplating going - it's just going to be a nightmare.

Comtesse · Yesterday 00:04

I even went to the parade in Islington last time they won - I don’t even like football THAT much but it was just down the road and it’s nice to see everyone so excited 😀

We went to the Emirates! It was insane 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Arsenal have become the Manchester United of the South. Casual followers all over the South East of England now. I hate them because of that.

CrepuscularCritter · Yesterday 08:17

It's been such a long time coming! I've been going to matches with my uncle since I was little and until he couldn't manage it any more. If there's an afterlife, I hope he's there now singing his heart out and giving me a chorus of "there's only one Dennis Bergkamp".

Arsenal have been a massive club since the 1930s and have always had fans all over the world. Seeing as we haven’t won the league for 22 years, you can hardly call our fans glory grabbers.

Exactly. I walked down onto a random beach in Oman in 2009/10, and encountered DH having an animated conversation with a bunch of sardine fishermen, all of whom seemed to be Arsenal fans. They didn’t share a language, it was a matter of mime and players’ names.

Oh please, they are part of the Sky 6 and been involved in the upper echelons of the table for decades. Poor you's having not won a title for 20+ years. So entitled.

Of course the majority of their fans are plastic glory hunters. Their 'fans' filming themselves in the ground, half & half scarves, traditional London accents replaced by Home Counties middle class Received Pronunciation. Arsenal are the latest “trendy” London activity. International fans with less than zero connection to the club, or indeed to north London, saying stuff like “London is red”.

I live in SE London. Arsenal fans are all over our catchment area. This title will pull even more fans into their fold. Young supporters who should be following Palace, Charlton, Millwall, Wimbledon or Bromley. Clubs that they can be part of and involved in their community. Clubs that they can get tickets and attend games regularly. Clubs that will celebrate a draw harder than these blow-ins with their shiny arsenal shirts, nursing a cordial in the pub for 90 minutes and singing 'north london forever' without a hint of irony.

Tuxedomaddness · Yesterday 09:42

Gutted Man city fan here but congratulations to Arsenal fans. The best team won.

Oh no 😄

Which did you end up supporting or did you opt out of it all?

DM couldn't have been less interested if she'd tried. I grew up in a town not all that far from London and went to a fairly dodgy comprehensive. Standing a high likelihood of being beaten up by some rough lads if, when interrogated, you said you supported the 'wrong' London team, I opted for another.

Yob, belligerently: "Go on then, what team do you support?"
Me, evasively: "I don't really like football"
Yob, making ready with his fists: "Well you HAVE to support one, WHAT IS IT?"
Me, thinking on my feet: "Sheffield Wednesday"
Yob, completely taken aback: "......Oh......".
😂

Fucking hell. Your bitterness is showing. And if you know your football, you’ll know that Arsenal originated in South London so there has always been a large following there. As I said, we are a massive club so obviously fans will pick us to support but not just because we always win things. I was born in Holloway by the way as a 4th generation Arsenal fan so you can sit with your bitter tears whilst we all celebrate.

Really? Mt grandfather was an Arsenal Fan, east end boy with an accent to match, my dad is an Arsenal fan, north London accent, I’m an Arsenal fan as is my DD with “Home Counties” accent as you like to call it.

DP was an Arsenal season ticket holder with his east end Grandfather from the age of 4, he’s now 55 and public school accent. His 20 year old DD is a fan. Most of my Arsenal friends have connections going right back to their grandparents who were mostly born after WW1, so over 100 years. Nearly all of us originally come from working class N or E London backgrounds even if that’s not who we are now. Hardly new fans

Peridot1 · Yesterday 10:14

I haven’t seen DS yet this morning but suspect he’ll be very happy. He’s almost 25 and has been an Arsenal fan since he was around four. It’s definitely been character building over the years supporting Arsenal! Especially as DH is a Man City fan…. he is not so happy this morning!

DS is the only Arsenal fan in the family. My dad was a Man U fan from a child. BILs are Liverpool and Everton. All Irish but support UK clubs. And DH is Man City. So it’s been interesting over the years!

DS picked Arsenal aged four as his best friend and his Dad were Arsenal fans. That was then cemented when an ex Arsenal player’s son joined DS’s school when we lived overseas and they became good friends.

Oh come on. "Arsenal used to be in South London” is hardly some meaningful explanation for why they’ve got loads of fans there now. They left Woolwich over 110 years ago. Nobody in Croydon, Bromley or Greenwich today is supporting Arsenal because of some Edwardian-era geographical loyalty, they support them because Arsenal became one of the biggest, most marketed and most successful clubs in the country. That’s my entire point. Supporting a global superclub that’s permanently on TV, in the Champions League conversation, signing £100m players and selling shirts worldwide is the easy option.

A proper football culture is following your local club through thick and thin. Going when they’re mid-table in February rain, knowing the players, getting tickets and actually supporting them on a regular basis, actually being part of the club and community. Most of these modern Arsenal fans would disappear the second the club spent a few years bouncing around the Championship.

There’s a difference between football being part of your identity and football being a fashionable lifestyle accessory. Arsenal’s modern fanbase has a huge amount of the latter. That’s why every time they look half decent again, thousands more suddenly appear declaring “North London is red” despite living nowhere near North London and having zero connection to the area or club beyond success and social media clips.

Palace have suspended ticket sharing for the match on Saturday. I'm an Arsenal fan. DH and DS are Palace. DS can't go to the match on Sunday cos he's at a wedding abroad. I thought I'd be able to go on his ticket (have done so before), but no. GUTTED.

DialSquare · Yesterday 10:26

I do follow my local club (to where I was born) through thick and thin and have done for over 50 years. I also know plenty of south London Arsenal fans who are following their family tradition from when Arsenal played there. I’m really not sure why you feel the need to keep going on about it as if Arsenal have never had local fans.

I live in SE London too. My kids and my DH are Palace season ticket holders and have been for years and years. DH and DS also share a season ticket for Bromley. I was born in Hackney, moved to Finsbury Park as a kid. I'm Arsenal through and through. No matter where I live. "Catchment" my Arse(nal)
