Genuine q - are the last few posts in particular pantomime winding up or like actual vitriol/sarcasm?

I’m not into football but have been at a PL match or two and seen the blokes properly getting argy bargy and throwing hands, so that’s obvious, but when it’s either sex online, I’m never too sure.

Edited

If you read through the posts, you'll see that Salty Sally is trying to claim that it's 'just banter' but I'd say it goes far beyond that. Accusing people (like me) of not being true fans just because they weren't born or live near the club takes it too far... for me it's in my blood and I've supported them my entire life, buried my dad's ashes at the ground, etc.

MauriceTheMussel · 28/05/2026 19:25

Oh yeah. No, that poster has just been rage baiting and derailing since the first page, I agree

mumofoneAloneandwell · 28/05/2026 19:29

I love that your dad will remain in the arsenal ground @CollectingAllTheACEs ❤️

So... I'm having a bit of a dilemma. I remember being outside Highbury in 2002 when they won the double, like literally right outside, no queuing for hours, no being jammed in like sardines, but obviously social media has blown everything up these days. I've never been to a parade, but will of course be down in London for the weekend. As I've previously said, I'm ND but I mask, mask, mask, and I do pretty ok in social/busy situations most of the time (apologies by the way @mumofoneAloneandwell if you thought I was being harsh before, I just really wanted you to see why taking DD wasn't a good idea).

I've managed to get us tickets to a Fan Park on Saturday, ok it's an hour from the ground/our hotel but at least I know we'll get in and we won't have to be queuing from 8am and waiting around all day.

But Sunday... having seen the expected crowd numbers and thinking about the noise, the number of people, the cramped space.... I just don't know if I can do it. I feel like I'll end up having a meltdown (which I never ever do because I know what triggers me and avoid it normally!). Part of me wants to see such a historic occasion, but I just don't know. My mum and my friend are desperate to go, and I think, I hope, they would understand and do it without me but I know how sad they'd be if I wasn't with them, my mum especially after everything the club means to both of us.

I mean if I don't go then I'm slightly worried how much money I'd spend given that I've just had a bit of a financial windfall and there are no designer shops/champagne bars/places to get a decent margarita in my no-mark small town!

murasaki · 28/05/2026 19:34

Ignore, it's just a poster with a vineyard full of sour grapes who can't deal with the heat.

This is a joyous thread for people whose teams have won things, and may win more this weekend, and those that are pleased for them.

I guess it will be a see on the day. Hopefully they will understand that you need to do what's best for you.

MauriceTheMussel · 28/05/2026 19:38

@CollectingAllTheACEs - I’m very local and the lack of info given to residents makes me think the whole thing will be a shitshow. There are NO signs on our road even as of this morning that you have to move your car. If you didn’t follow football or weren’t online, you’d have minimal clue the parade was coming.

There are a few small residential streets the parade will go down (let alone ones the road over from the route) that have basement properties…so given this is essentially Notting Hill Carnival, people have 2-3 days max to board up their windows? Impossible!

I checked the council website and no urinals or Portaloos are being provided…

I just think there will be riots and maybe even deaths tbh

MauriceTheMussel · 28/05/2026 19:39

Oh, the council are boarding off green spaces eg Islington Green…but fuck all the residents!

I’d love to be able to offer you sanctuary in our maisonette but I doubt anyone can make it through the mêlée

CollectingAllTheACEs · 28/05/2026 19:43

@murasaki I'm worried about thinking it's a good idea and then getting there and not easily being able to remove myself from the situation. The few times I've ever struggled really badly I've just taken myself away from whatever it is altogether but I can't see how I can do that in something like this

@MauriceTheMussel that sounds horrendous! I did note they've cordoned off the parks which I don't understand as surely it allows people to spread out more. I've over-committed myself I think. (Thank you for being so kind by the way)

mumofoneAloneandwell · 28/05/2026 19:43

@CollectingAllTheACEs no worries at all girl, you were right - and i'm sorry, I see that I was being very unreasonable 😫😫 - just couldnt see past 'important event' - appreciate the good natured advice on this thread 💕

The route has been expanded but its still not well thought out yet, could be much better with safe spaces for the disabled supporters 😕

They haven't made any provisions at all for disabled supporters or people with children. I wouldn't be able to get any sort of special assistance regardless as not sure how I'd demonstrate I needed that spot!

@sally037 still trying to piss on our (literal) parade?

Let me guess, Spurs fan right? Why don't you jog on back to N17(th).... I'd be pretty upset too if I had to live there

I actually found her comment really funny and I'm an Arsenal fan!

I just think that people don't want us to win because we haven't won for 22 years and they feel we don't deserve to win because in their eyes we're not as big a club as the clubs that have won recently.

But we're also not small enough to be liked because we have spent a lot of money on our team.

So we are just stuck in the middle!

MauriceTheMussel · 28/05/2026 19:50

Arsenal’s website is a joke - in the FAQs there’s a specific section asking about disabled access/areas…as you know, zilch.

From what I can gather on Twitter, a lot of fans are mentioning aiming for Angel (as more chance of seeing the bus when it turns from Essex Rd to Upper St), Holloway Rd and Seven Sisters. Canonbury IOverground is one of the few stations open (exit only, I think), so you could try approaching from Shoreditch and wangling into the SE portion of the parade? That way, if it’s hairy, you can get out quite easily as there are a lot of backstreets and you have the canal

NE will be awful as Clissold Park will be open and people will congregate there, and there are loads of restaurants and off licences on Green Lanes

I tried calling them and waited ages on hold - they must be getting loads of people asking - the woman was like 'no we're not putting on any support'

Now the grounds themselves will be closed - it would be such a good idea for them to be used for disabled supporters to see the procession?!

It makes Villa's platform area with room for 35 plus 35 carers look àmazing rather than the bare minimum.

CollectingAllTheACEs · 28/05/2026 20:00

@MauriceTheMussel I was going to suggest heading towards Angel as that seems to be the outer edge and also closest to where we are staying - any tips from getting from the Kings Cross/Farringdon area out towards the Shoreditch side? I'm quite familiar with London but not really over that way...

CollectingAllTheACEs · 28/05/2026 20:01

@MustTryHarderAndHarder have you read all of her comments though? Definitely not funny...

I've read some but I just ignore trolls and forget what they say!

I just liked her last comment and thought that it was funny as it's good to laugh at yourself.

MauriceTheMussel · 28/05/2026 20:10

@CollectingAllTheACEs - the 205 goes from outside Kings Cross Station and if you get off at Windsor Terrace, you could then walk north on Shepherdess Walk, nice bridge over the canal, and then aim for Packington St-ish? The streets there are a little wider and there are a few churchyards/churches you could potentially seek refuge in if it’s all crazy.

CollectingAllTheACEs · 28/05/2026 20:19

@MustTryHarderAndHarder I maybe would have laughed had she not been so vitriolic earlier on about fans who don't live literally on the same street as their ground

@MauriceTheMussel thank you so much! I'm definitely making a note of this and hoping for the best. Although think I'd spontaneously combust if I were to step inside a church 😂

MauriceTheMussel · 28/05/2026 20:28

When ya gotta pee, ya gotta pee!

TheNewGaard · 28/05/2026 23:53

Yeah, I'm in two minds about going to the parade. As I said, the last time I went in 1993 I was literally living just off the Holloway Road, and it was crowded enough, but not as bad as I think this one will be.

I think I'll wait until the morning and decide whether or not to bother then.

Oh, and as for a Sp*rs fan thinking anyone agrees with them - well, you have to admire the level of delusion...

In fact, how about we have a little meet up, no one else will know!

Outside The Plimsoll, 11 o'clock? I'll be the one wearing an Arsenal shirt!

Lunch, a bottle of something, then a romantic stroll up St. Thomas' Road, to Seven Sisters Road to watch the parade!
