I've been on a diet for the last 16 months and have lost quite a bit of weight, I'm now just 3lbs from my goal weight. Obviously this means I've made lots of sacrifices, but when I've been on holiday during this time I've had a break from the diet and got back on it when I'm home. I'm doing a UK break for a week in 2 weeks time (self catering cottage) and am looking forward to not weighing and logging my meals. With this my mind went to what treats I'd like, so thought I'd ask what treats do/would you look forward to? Give me your go-to treats! Can be meals, snacks, whatever!

I love afternoon tea!!! I love the selection of little cakes because I am forever torn between chocolate, lemon and berries for dessert! Afternoon tea often lets you have all three!

Just of a regular Friday night though, I might still in at the supermarket on the way home for those little choc pots and, in summer, some raspberries/strawberries/cherries to go with it.

Congratulations on the weight loss and finding a way to balance healthy eating and the nice things in life!

A lovely cheese scone, warm from the oven with some nice butter on it . . .

Girl Pasta - fresh pasta, butter, cheddar/mozzarella mix, bit of salt.

Inhale.

M&S Caesar dip, with lentil crisps to dip in,
stilton and crackers,
or those Cadbury pots of joy.

I love afternoon tea for the selection too! And those choc pots! Thank you, I've definitely tried to make my weight loss realistic and given myself a break during a holiday!

My go to is picky bits - selection of cheese/crackers, grapes, some nice red onion marmalade, posh crisps, some walnuts and macadamia nuts. I'm type 2 diabetic and rarely eat any of this so it's my absolute treat meal.

A bar of decent dark chocolate - Venezuelan 70% cocoa or similar.

A good prawn cocktail with avocado

A creamy wild mushroom risotto

A really good steak with pepper cream sauce.

I like my food 😋

Some great suggestions here thanks all! I'm thinking of a really nice posh bread with real salted butter..not very exciting but my god I miss bread and butter

Cheese. Nuts, salted mixed nuts. When you find a pecan it's like a little gift. Cheese, not so many sweet things, but Cheese definitely. Also a ploughman's pork pie from our local butcher. Same as a regular pork pie, but with roast chicken and sage and onion stuffing between top and bottom layers.

Almond croissants. I don’t even like them that much.its just the “idea” of their crispy buttery softness.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 19/05/2026 20:56

Pork pie.

DilemmaDelilah · 21/05/2026 08:43

A big slab of cake with my afternoon cuppa 😃

  1. Bombay Bad Boy Pot Noodle
  2. Family size packet of crisps. (Made for sharing? Not in my house!)

Not exactly a treat but right now I feel like some fancy bread, like sun-dried tomato or olive bread with butter, maybe a bit of Camembert, some prosciutto, bit of antipasti.

OFiddleDeeDee · 21/05/2026 09:28

Bread and biscuits will sabatoge me until the day I die.

BCBird · 21/05/2026 09:35

Apple crumble with custard, freshly baked scones, homemade fruitcake and Galaxay chocolate. Yummy. Congratulations on your weight loss
