Help needed - Uni of Liverpool accommodation advice

Hello fellow M’netters, please can you help me 🙏
My son is hopefully starting Law at the University of Liverpool in September (fingers crossed 🤞) and I’d really appreciate any recommendations for accommodation that’s within walking distance of the Law building or main campus. If anyone has had a student there recently, what would you say were the better options in terms of location, safety, and general day-to-day living in first year?

I’ve previously booked through Unite Students for his older brother, so I’m familiar with that setup, and I’ve also looked at the University of Liverpool’s own halls. Someone mentioned Prospect Point to us as being quite close and good value, but it doesn’t seem to come through either Unite or the university accommodation listings.

It looks like it’s only available through Now Student Living, which I don’t know anything about. I’m not sure how they compare in terms of reliability or management compared to the bigger providers, so I’m a bit unsure whether it’s better to stick with Unite or university-managed options.

Any experiences or recommendations would be really helpful.

Does it need to be in walking distance? Most first years are out at Greenbank?

Handeyethingyowl · 19/05/2026 19:44

I’d agree with Greenbank.

My son has sighed up to prospect point and its within walking distance of the university. He used the website to sign up and it all seems legitimate.

DS is just finishing first year in halls in Crown Place - couldn’t be more central to the university!

Edited to add: I was really impressed with the accommodation - clean, safe and useful!

hellsbells99 · 19/05/2026 20:03

My DD was in Crown Place, very close to the university.

Tbh with Liverpool everywhere’s pretty close in comparison with other cities; ds was in Crown Place which was perfect for him, lots of his mates were Greenbank and loved it too.

Lilifer · 19/05/2026 20:30

Thanks all. Crown Place is already booked out. I’ll check out Greenbank and yeah ideally he would be able to walk to lectures but like 15-20 mins walk would be fine, he’s got long legs! 😅

Thank you - do you know did he use the NowStudentLiving website to book it?

DD was at Philharmonic Court for post grad. They had a cleaner once a week for the corridor and kitchen!

Ramblingaway · 19/05/2026 21:11

Greenbank is a bus ride away, but there is a special student bus, the 699 which runs really frequently. It's in a really beautiful part of the city. Definitely worth a look.

Handeyethingyowl · 19/05/2026 21:17

Yes Greenbank is in a lovely part of Liverpool. It’s nice to be outside of the city centre on weekends. Back in the day almost every first year lived there (or the now closed Carnatic).

My son went to Crown Place....loved it!

DS was also in philharmonic court which was about 10 mins walk for him. I don’t know where law lectures are though. He was pleased to be central and could walk everywhere.

Thanks all - I will have a look today, am worried we have left it too late and only the super pricey ones are left 🫠

Ask to be put on cancellation lists. My DD applied in July, we had a couple of tense weeks but there's always cancellations closer to the time.

Cheerfulcharlie · 21/05/2026 11:54

https://www.unitestudents.com/v2/student-accommodation/liverpool/cambridge-court - this place is so handy. Most first years do live in the Greenbank area and get a bus in but it's pretty cool to be so central and almost roll into your lectures (and nights out in the centre). You can also then pop back in and out during the day but if you live out at Greenbank you can't really do that.

I used to work at a university and the accommodation team were great and used to have loads of information to help students and ensure they were regulated.

I’d also get him to reach out on social media as some people might have booked stuff they now want to cancel and need to find someone to take their place (obviously checking it’s genuine!!!)!
