Alcohol free date night ideas within 20 minute drive of Sutton

I have booked a babysitter for a weeknight 8-11pm for the first date night we're going to have in almost 2 years.

I am feeling extremely open minded, but very tired and struggling to put my brain to good use.

I don't want to go to the pub or out for dinner etc.

We have previously driven to the Reigate viewpoint and watched the airplanes with a flask of tea and some biscuits.

I'm also considering bowling but I'm worried it'll be full of teenagers.

Please help 🙏

Cinema?
Theatre?
Meal?

DM hasn’t drunk alcohol for nearly 50 years, but, as she says “I still eat and drink other drinks!”.

Sorry I didn't think to mention that all our at home date night's have been a film and popcorn/drinks, so we're hoping to do something different.

Can you do an escape room with just 2 people?!

Yes! I've been on a date to the escape room in Wallington, it was fun.

CarshaltonMum · 19/05/2026 19:42

I like Cuppa Chai in Wallington, which is open late, so could be an option after the Escape Room if you decided to do that.

snowymarbles · 19/05/2026 20:04

Is there anything on at Charles Cryer in carshalton?
board game cafe?
lego cafe in caterham (not sure if it’s open late)

Ah I just had a look and the latest booking is for 8:30, which is when we'll be leaving the house. The kiddos just do not sleep any earlier!

Watching the sunset at Box Hill with a flask of tea? (Although the one time I did this the entirety of Surrey had the same idea.)
Depending on how.much time you have you could also visit the grave of Peter Labiellere which is at the top of Box Hill.

Grown up Bowling at Strike (I think it is called that) in Wandsworth. Traffic should be fine around 8.30ish.

CleanShirt · 19/05/2026 21:53

HappyToSmile · 19/05/2026 22:03

The churchill theatre often have good stuff on during the week (or the Fairfield halls)

Ludoquist! That's a great shout. So many nice non alcoholic options.

You used to be able to get a bucket of golf balls to hit at Oaks Park golf range. Good fun, can go to the bar for a drink/food afterwards if you wanted. Not sure if they still do it.
There is also relatively local crazy golf options but not sure when the latest start time would be.
Go to Ikea in Croydon! That might be just me!! There is also Wing Yip's supermarket on the Purley Way which I love going to, and places nearby to eat afterwards. Bit odd, but I love going there.

IKEA is for days out with the kiddos! My DP hates it there haha.

We ended up going to the pub for some non-alcoholic drinks, walking around Wimbledon common, then drove to a viewpoint for a bit.

It was a nice evening and it was actually lovely to be outside.
