Help me choose where to stay in Blackpool

Hi was hoping to get some help with staying in Blackpool in the summer.
It will be myself and my 16 year old.
I have never been to Blackpool so don't really know what I'm doing. I dont drive so whilst in Blackpool we will be walking and public transport.

I have booked a room close to Blackpool North Station and North pier. Thats costing me 300 for 3 nights. But I have just come across a room for 164 for 3 nights but its near the south pier they are bith budget hotels. Both have private bathroom. The reason I booked the hotel in Blackpool North wss because it's close to the train station and north pier which is where we are likely to do more stuff.
But is paying 300 worth it or when I can get a room for 164. Im wondering how easy travel/walking is and how safe it is. Im torn between 300 or 164. Money wise 164 makes sense. But im not sure in location..

So has anyone been /know the area?

The trams run down the promenade regularly all day and late into the night between North and South Pier. I'd suggest getting a day travel pass ticket and using it to get about. You can hop on and off and do a bit of walking too.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 18/05/2026 22:22

I would get my money back and go somewhere else. Its an absolute shithole.

Bakedbeansandtoast · 18/05/2026 22:24

Please don't go...I have never hated anywhere more! It's an absolute dump and whilst used to many cities and bad areas of cities, I have never felt more unsafe.

Grange over sands

All Blackpool north and south is easily accessible by tram or bus from train station the travel lodges are pretty standard
tiffianys and the shererdon are ok
Norbreck castle can be a bit grim but it’s relevant with the price I’m not to fussy and find it fine but parts are grotty

worriedmumofgirls · 18/05/2026 22:28

Blackpool in the last few years has gone from rough, to even rougher.

My cousin lives there and the last I visited it was just hordes of gangs of men who live in the hotels. It’s not safe, especially of a night for women and children.

Please think twice about visiting.

SALaw · 18/05/2026 22:28

If you HAVE to go I’d get the premier inn a bit out of town and travel in. At least you know what you’re getting then. I know of people in recent years that have stayed in absolute hell holes in the centre.

AlexaStopAlexaNo · 18/05/2026 22:29

Stay somewhere else instead, Blackpool is awful, though the rest of the north west has some lovely places, I’m sure posters will be able to help with some suggestions…

Toastandjam16 · 18/05/2026 22:31

I've stayed in the Premier Inn by the north pier - it was decent and the food good. I don't know if that's your 300 total one. It was all walkable but for my trip, it wasn't that warm and our activities were all pretty close to the north pier so it worked out well. You could look on Google maps at the hotels along that bit of the front and then check out the TripAdvisor reviews.

Zov · 18/05/2026 22:31

Travelodge South Shore is quite decent and quite cheap. Especially if you stay in the week/not weekend.

Re; the comments about Blackpool. It has gone downhill over the years, but there is plenty to do, loads of places to visit, and it's one of the best places to be if it's pissing down.

People are saying Blackpool isn't nice to be. But me and dd sre going for the airshow. Im not to keen on booking something further away as im not confident travelling in areas i don't know.

Also if there are dodgy men in the area wouldn't it be safer to get back into the hotel quickly rather than travelling out of the main area where it may be more isolating?

If you want the Pleasure Beach, we like the Big Blue.

Thesafetygeneral · 18/05/2026 22:38

Avoid Blackpool like the plague I’m sorry! It’s horrific. I wouldn’t pay 100 for three nights let alone 300, cancel now and look elsewhere

notatinydancer · 18/05/2026 22:40

Blackpool is vile - sorry. A hotel at £164 for three nights is going to be grim.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 18/05/2026 22:41

Sheraton in Blackpool is a nice hotel. Tram stop outside. Away from the madness in town but easily accessible. Has a pool, nice food and not expensive.

Lovelanza · 18/05/2026 22:42

it is a scruffy dump. £164 for 3 nites will be grim. Stay further up the coast and get the train in for the air show

SqueakyFromme · 18/05/2026 22:43

I’d rather ingest anthrax than go to Blackpool again

gokartdillydilly · 18/05/2026 22:47

Worst place I've ever been to. Utterly utterly grim

SqueakyFromme · 18/05/2026 22:51

It’s the peanut in Lancashires turd

Blackpool is absolutely dire. As others have strongly suggested you would be much better to reconsider your plans. Plenty lovely places to go for the same £s. Daft to go somewhere so rough and run down especially if you are a nervous traveller anyways.

Pistachiocake · 18/05/2026 22:55

Hilton, near the Pleasure Beach. Delaware hotel, town centre. The Village hotel, near the park about a mile or two from the centre. There are trams, buses and taxis easily available and obviously Uber.
There are lots of shows in the centre. The Pleasure Beach, Tower, Tower Dungeons, Sandcastle, Zoo and Sealife centre, piers, nice walks along the beach might appeal, obviously depending on your interests. Some nice places to eat (use tripadvisor as you know what types you like).

I've stayed there but I was driving. There's a Premier Inn in the centre.
