Any positive recovery stories from shingles? I’ve been suffering for about a week now, blisters appeared at the weekend, taking antivirals and pain relief but it’s SO painful and getting worse if not better. Everything I read is just horror stories of the radiating stabbing pain lasting for months on end. Feeling a bit stressed and worried and over it!

Stop stressing-it makes it worse!

If you are struggling with stress google Marconi Union weightless. It’s a piece of music that is proven to reduce stress and lower your heart rate. Lie down, close your eyes and play it for 10 mins to de stress.

Simple habits app does free mindful meditations.

Try the above, several times a day if possible, to keep your stress levels low. I hope you feel better soon Flowers

I had very bad pain with shingles. It was awful so you have my full sympathy. GP prescribed pregabalin which worked very quickly. It's nerve pain so he said usual pain relief doesn't really work

My husband had it in March. Caught it quickly as it was on his face and eye lid so started the tablets before the blisters came. He experienced a burning sensation on his head which lasted around 5 weeks but now has no further complications.

Have you got the medication? The sooner you are able to start it the better the outcome (hopefully)

Yep taking the medication and started it as soon as I spotted the blisters. It’s just so debilitating 🥴

Anti-histamines can help. They help my Mother when she gets shingles. I hope that you feel better soon. Flowers

Hey
I got shingles in early December and it was on the right hand side of my forehead, scalp and eyebrow. Was awful. Painful, exhausting and ruined lots of events we were looking forward to in the run up to Christmas . I did get an appointment with an eye doctor - can be long term damage of it gets too close. Got the meds on diagnosis , took painkillers and used calomine lotion on the rash. Oddly I never got the blisters and for that I am so grateful. I think it was the calomine!

Almost six months on and you can see the forehead yeah if you looks close and my eyebrow , every now and then, gets a sharp stabbing pain ( like a nettle sting) and I often catch myself scratching it.

i was definitely stressed , worn out and working too hard when I got it- I’m a teacher and it’s very difficult to say no to be honest.

take care x

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I had shingles last summer and was pretty miserable for a few weeks. For me it was worse at night and I had difficulty sleeping, and the lack of sleep was no fun. Cold packs helped a bit for the pain. I consider myself lucky because I know other people experience much more severe symptoms. I also had some occasional pain in my side and shoulder for several months afterwards, but the pain wasn’t as intense and it faded in time.

Hang in there. I hope you recover quickly.
