Put my AirPods through the washing machine

Arrggghhh!

I was trying to be all organised and multi-tasking by getting a load of washing down before a meeting, so just threw it all in without checking pockets. They were in a 30 degree cycle for about 20 minutes before I realised (needing the AirPods for said meeting!)

I’ve fished them out and dried them off but is there anything else I should be doing? Put them on a warm radiator maybe? I googled putting them in rice but apparently that can be bad

Is there anything else chance my AirPods will survive this?!

My sons airpods went through the washing machine and they were absolutely fine. Just leave them to dry out naturally and fingers crossed they live to tell the tale.

I'm just thinking about those little sachets of silica gel might help. and a dehumidifier!? if you have it?

Ive done this multiple times. Sometimes they're fine, sometimes they're not. Let them dry out in an egg cup of rice and see.

If it’s the earbuds bit and not the case you should be absolutely fine.

Just let them dry on the side. Don’t use rice as it’s not a good idea for small delicate electronics.

Thank all -yes I do have a couple of silica sachets I can deploy.

It is just the buds, not the case - one was still in the jeans pocket and the other was roaming round inside the drum. I’m cross with myself as I do love my AirPods and really don’t want to fork out for another pair!

Leave them to dry naturally, re no hairdryer or heater etc. Do not try and use them until they're fully dry. Good luck

I am pleased to say my AirPods are alive 👏🏼

I wasn’t sure how long to leave them to dry but I am very impatient and have tested them just now. I got them for Christmas in 2021 and am so pleased not to have to replace them at this point.

Thank you for all the advice and recommendations!
