Anyone else lost a new purchase and felt really annoyed about it?

We’re on holiday (abroad) and today we went on a day trip to an island.
I bought a blanket that i saw when we got off the boat and i went back to buy on the way back to the boat. I was undecided, but loved it and thought it would be a nice reminder of a lovely trip. It wasn’t hugely expensive but was more than I would have usually spent on something like that for myself.

We sat down on a bench near to the boat while waiting to board and when we were on the boat I realised we didn’t have the bag with it in. My husband went back to look but it wasn’t there and it hadn’t been handed in to the little kiosk next to the bench either. I think it must have fallen down the back of the bench on to the floor and we didn’t notice.

I feel annoyed with myself and keep thinking about it…. So I’m looking for solidarity with any tales similar to this.

Yes. When I was in my 20s I spent about £100 on a coat which was a huge amount for me then.

Left it on the bus! I didn't even notice until hours later, thinking where have I put the bag with the coat in?

It still annoys me. Needless to say it wasn't handed in by anybody.

I’ve done this before. The worst one was a mobile phone 😱🙈

Yep I randomly just left my coffee at the hand off station in Starbucks, good old pregnancy brain.

I’ve done this before. The worst one was a mobile phone 😱🙈

I found a brand new, still sealed in box IPhone in a cafe many years ago. Receipt in the bag. Was handed in to the nearby Apple Store but obviously I never found out if the owner went back to check. That was one of the reasons I stopped paying cash for large purchases, if that person had of paid cash, they’d have absolutely no way to prove it was theirs.

I lost my earbuds case on the way to work about 2/3 years ago. They were a free gift with my phone so luckily no money lost but I was heartbroken and retraced my steps about 5 times. Even with Find My Device I couldn’t locate them. I can only assume someone must have picked it up or it fell down a drain, I walk that road regularly and still look out for it.

My beautiful new vans. Still in the box! New York 1996. Left them on top of a bin as I readjusted my rucksack. Was knackered after summer working through bunac. Was probably also pissed. Still annoyed!

I bought a nice purple umbrella once and left itnon the bus the first time I used it. Probably 30 years ago but still remember it grrrrr….

I bought some (expensive for student me at the time) makeup and left it by the sink in the cinema toilets. Realised after literally one minute, went back and it was gone. I was so upset and am still cross about it!

Yep. I bought the shoes I wanted to wear to my wedding and then had a few drinks with the girls to celebrate a few occasions. Turned around to leave and the bag had been nicked.

I bought the shoes again and when I changed into flats later on in the wedding day the shoes once again… gone from the venue! MIA.

My husband bought me a new pair as a memento as I’d been so upset and, you guessed it, they were bloody stolen from our car.

Three times these shoes have been lost. I refuse to buy them again now.

Threw out a brand new pair of birkenstocks when disposing of the box they came in (and still were in).

Still looking for a recent purchase of a new bottle of shampoo. I can clearly remember opening my bag to put it in and then....

I lost a new pair of trousers I bought, searched the entire house and eventually gave up and decided I must have lost them somewhere in the city.

A few days later I found the receipt and it turned out I never actually bought them, just thought about it then got distracted and put them down.

I recently bought two new expensive bras from John Lewis. I took out one to use straightaway and must have thrown out the other one which was still wrapped in tissue paper at some point. To further compound my error I thought the delicate bra would wash ok in the machine, but it promptly fell apart. So £65 and nothing to show for it Blush.

Left my flat white in Waitrose on the side of the till. Was looking forward to it lol

When we were very skint with nursery fees, mortgage, high commuting costs etc, my lovely FiL gave me some money to buy some bone conducting headphones to help me start running again (he’s an ex runner, and he recognised the importance of having some time yo myself with 2 small DC). Within a week, I’d lost them. I think they fell out of my pocket (big duffle coat patch pockets) when DS was swimming .

When I was in my 20s I had just been paid so as a treat I went to Boots and filled a carrier bag with lovely beauty treats for a pampering weekend home alone. Got on the bus and left it on the bus stop.

Realised quite soon and got off the bus, caught another one back.
The ruddy bag was gone.
